As a pastor, Bill Hybels knows hundreds of people with schedules like this. Yet in his own life he has made the hard discovery that prayer doesn't happen on the run. He decided he was too busy not to pray. Hybels's accessible introduction to prayer has already helped over 400,000 readers develop a rich and regular prayer life in the midst of life's business. Now, in this revised and expanded 10th anniversary edition, he includes new insights from his years of ministry and his own spiritual journey. He shows how to slow down to pray, listen to God, respond to what we hear, practice the presence of God and overcome prayer barriers. His fun and practical book offers the resources we need for growing, ongoing experiences in prayer.

I've been praying my whole life but always felt I just wasn't communing with God like I should. Bill Hybels does an excellent job breaking down many aspects of prayer like: Why we don't pray, How God is willing and able to hear and answer prayers, habits and how you can build them, how to pray more effectively, how to get answers to prayer... to name a few. Apparently learning for years that I should pray, repent, seek guidance... wasn't enough. I needed a user manual with detailed steps and I think I finally found one.
All I can say is this: I love it, I love it! I've found a book that finally spoke to me and that I can use.
I'd just ordered this book on Saturday, and I have already listened to it several times. This book is loaded with information that every Christian should know when it comes to having a healthy prayer life!
Created to love.
This is one of my favorite audio books ever.
This book will help you deepen your prayer life. It will help you get to know God more intimately.
The author said he once heard someone say
I found this book to be liberating and enlightening. I have always been one who loves to pray. This book helped me to 'reset' my prayer time.
If you have ever struggled with a consistent prayer time the this book is for you.
I love this book, and I am sure that I will listen to it again. There wasn't a moment that I struggled to finish it, but like the book stresses that we need to make quiet time for God, I did just that when I chose to listen to it.. the most memorable part for me is chapter 14 (leadings).
Additionally, the author and narrator did justice to the book, pitch perfect, tone perfect, I felt like we were sitting and having a conversation.
Headline says it all. If you don't have any background in prayer you might gain something from this.
The author is real, not preachy. He carefully directs the reader towards a deeper prayed life with specific practical guidelines that are totally biblical.
This is a great and encouraging read and will help a believer develop a powerful and effective prayer life!
Roberston Dean is an excellent narrator. I always enjoy his presentations
"Short, honest and practical teaching"
Very honest and practical teaching. Short enough to listen to during a busy season in life. Inspired to change my schedule to create the space for quieter reflection and listening to The Lord with some tools on how to make it a more fruitful, quality experience
"A must listen!"
Loved it. listened almost in one go. found it useful and easy to follow.
Loved the narrator too.
"Should listened to by anyone wanting an adventure in prayer"
Fabulous reminding me of things I read ages ago but loved the helpful insights if how to slow down and spiritual leadings
"A good argument for prayer"
A thoughtful and well argued book. Backed by Biblical comment throughout. With Bill Hybels, you feel he is showing you as much about his failings as his experience and this makes it real for me.
