Publisher's summary

The End of Faith. The God Delusion. God Is Not Great. Letter to a Christian Nation. Best seller lists are filled with doubters. But what happens when you actually doubt your doubts?

Timothy Keller, the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, addresses the frequent doubts that skeptics, and even ardent believers, have about religion. Using literature, philosophy, real-life conversations, and potent reasoning, Keller explains how the belief in a Christian God is, in fact, a sound and rational one. To true believers he offers a solid platform on which to stand their ground against the backlash to religion created by the Age of Skepticism. And to skeptics, atheists, and agnostics, he provides a challenging argument for pursuing the reason for God.

Critic reviews

"It is easy to understand [Timothy Keller's] appeal." (The New York Times)

"In a flood of best sellers by skeptics and atheists...Keller stands out as an effective counterpoint and defender of the faith. The Reason for God makes a tight, accessible case for reasoned religious belief." (The Washington Post)

"It's a provocative premise, in pursuit of which Keller...takes on nonbelievers from evolutionary biologists to the recent rash of atheist authors." (The Boston Globe)

Compelling cumulative argument for God's existence

As a Christian, this book bolstered my faith by providing me with solid evidence for God's existence. As Keller explains in The Reason for God, no single argument will ever be 100% bullet proof to the critic's scrutiny. However, the sum of them is compelling. Timothy's use of stories and examples provide a platform from which to relate. Timothy kept me interested enough to listen to it twice, the second time taking notes. Highly recommended to Christians, critics, and those who are seeking the solution to the void in their life.

Logic

I think there are a lot of good logical arguments in this book. There are a few things I'm not sure I agree with and a couple that I thought should be addressed. Overall I think it's a great book for a true seeker.

A Thinking Persons Book

I challenge believers and nonbelievers to read this book. It was a journey from A to Z. Tim Keller addresses questions that both sides will want to hear the answers. It was so thought provoking I will be rereading and taking notes! The last chapter was particularly illuminating for me as I’ve struggled with understanding Gods nature as the Trinity. I plan on sharing this book with as many people as I can.

Debunks atheism, reaffirms agnosticism

I'm agnostic. I was dating a highly religious girl said to me "you only read books written by atheists". I invited her to recommend a book, this was that book. interesting points were made and I'm now more open to the idea of God. but no more open, if not less so, to being a Christian. I appreciate the perspective I gained but I think this book failed to accomplish its goal of pushing me towards Jesus.

I would highly recommend this book to a friend questioning their faith.

This book is one of the few books that I have looked forward to listening to up to this point. The arguments and content relate to modern struggles. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Illuminating

Timothy Keller has such a reasonable and logical approach to the difficult secular questions people of faith run up against when interacting with non-believers.

He took nearly point of logic I had used as a non-believer to disprove Gods existence and eloquently point out that instead of defeating faith, those same points actually prove His existence.

A simply remarkable work that should be consumed by near all those who are new in Christ or nearly curious.
