Dr. Bill Creasy of Logos Bible Study uses a literary, historical approach to examine and enliven the bible for modern listeners. Dr. Creasy draws on his studies, travels, and personal anecdotes to depict a vivid picture of the works of scripture. Somewhere between a sermon and a college lecture, he delivers these audiobooks with authority but a pleasantly friendly voice and a touch of fun, using contemporary references.
In Dr. Creasy’s view, the Epistles to Romans is not only the most important of the 13 books attributed to Paul but of all of the New Testament’s 27 books. Though not chronologically his first work, it systematically lays out the thinking that the rest of his work draws upon. He discusses its context and teachings in depth.
Thirteen of the 27 books of the New Testament are traditionally ascribed to Paul. Although Romans is not the earliest of Paul’s writings, like Isaiah and Matthew, Romans sits at the head of the epistles and letters. Written as a formal argument and structured as a scholastic diatribe, Romans presents Paul’s great thesis that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works of Law. This is revolutionary! Romans, perhaps more than any other book ever written, has fundamentally changed Western civilization, and it is foundational to understanding all of Paul’s other epistles and letters. Listen closely as Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy explores this extraordinary work.

I was preparing to teach a bible study on Romans, and was looking for a good audio commentary. I honestly can't think of a better audio study than this! It is in enough depth to really get at the text, but is also very easy to listen to and enjoyable. One note -- it helps to have a bible in front of you, or at least to have read the book of Romans a few times before hand. Sometimes I would listen to this in the car, and when I stopped would find myself grabbing my bible and furiously taking notes!
Dr. Bill is great - he brings in just the right amount of personal anecdotes and illustrations. And a wonderful sense of humor!
At the end of the book, I found myself with a really solid basic understanding of the book of Romans, and I was able to teach a wonderful study.
I've since bought Genesis and look forward to working my way through the bible with Logos Bible Study.
Dr. Bill s an expert the history, the archaeology ,and what it was like to live and different times. There is enough gravitas there for senior Christians and newbies. Hetakes teaching the word of God seriously and approaches it with humor!
Dr. Bill states what the Lord says,, and then might go off into various interpretations but iin the end he is word-based always word based!
He makes the Bible fun!
Dr. Bill has opened up the Bible to me and thousands of others! He is a gem if I did not get to meet him on earth than I will certainly meet him in heaven in which I will give him a big hug!
That not only goes for Daniel but for other books of the Bible! I originally started listening to his series in preparation of precepts upon precepts studying revelation! and it made it a whole lot easier on me! I am ones and those who actually understands revelation!
I wish there were more people out there like Dr. Bill and there would be more Christians without a doubt!
From 1980 to 1994, I was a local columnist for The Outlook, the daily newspaper in Santa Monica.
I found this very disappointing. Creasy has a rambling lecture style featuring suspicious anecdotes about his personal life that do not really illuminate the text of Romans. One minute he's trying to be a professor, the next a preacher and then a stand-up comic. He isn't very good at any of these roles. I will have to look somewhere else for a better commentary on Romans.
