GoRUBY! YOU NAILED IT!

REALTALK-- This book is awesome. It's one to keep near your journals, etiquette books, and your I Ching translations. She is balanced, funny, humble and refreshingly feisty. I adore Chelsea Handler, Cynthia Heimel and Kelly Cutrone because their command of language is so sharp and styllized and theres an NYC unapologetic tone that I crave. Too often women phrase statement with a questioning intonation, and this gets on my last nerve at times. That's why I love the above authors and now Ruby. These women tell it like it is. Why cower? They say what they mean and it's so well said , it brings a smile. This is a book full of applicable, sage advice from an edgy stylish, well informed writer. It's packed insights from some one in tune with the world around them. Her suggestions come from hard-earned experience. She shares her mistakes. She dares to put herself out there. She's like that friend you wish you had in every city. That female confidant you trust to no end, because they've been there and want only the best for you. I don't consider it easy to translate such complex & esoteric ideas into layman's terms without sounding a little loopy, preachy, or hipster-elite. Many writers don't seem at all sane when they go to write about these topics. They take new age to levels that are hard to relate to. It's rare to find enthusiasts who maintain a sane tone while still VERY in touch with a lot of what's out there in spiritual circles. (It's a thin line.) Ruby nailed it with finesse. I found this charming , funny , and easy to get into. I loved it from beginning to end. It's hard not to gush. In the end I was left with a Sisterhood -is -Global sentiment. She quoted a Yogi in one part:
" ...Travel light, live light, spread light, be the light ..."
Ruby, you are being the light.

Not what I was expecting, but a good listen...

I learned so much listening, it was not what I was expecting but definitely enjoyed the entire book. If you are into crystals and healing this is a must for you.

When I don’t hear Ruby’s voice, I miss it! Thank you for reminding me that It’s already in me and always has been.

I kinda see and agree what the other comments meant regarding her name dropping a lot. Imagine being in a lecture and the professor continuously takes time from the lecture to tell a story about a famous person they've worked with. Other than this great Gems are being dropped. I would definitely recommend to anyone who's started their spiritual journey.

And so the journey begins...

This book literally changed my life. Having gone sober myself recently, I was looking for good books and memoirs by and about cool sober people. For Gaia knows what reason, this one did NOT come up!! However I was at this vegan lunch spot that I dig a couple months ago and saw this book for sale there. I liked the colour of the cover lol, and the name was intriguing. I didn’t purchase it however, or even open it up. Yet, its existence remained tucked up in my head for whatever reason.

Fast forward to the beginning of this week: I needed a new book to listen to and this title popped into my mind. I downloaded it immediately and literally could. not. stop. listening!!! Everything Ruby has to say is phenomenal. Her message is deeply meaningful whilst remaining accessible.

I’m definitely going back to that vegan spot and buying the book now, so that I can read it again (physically this time) and take notes!! A++++. This book has totally changed my life, and has reaffirmed my commitment to my sobriety. Cool sober women totally DO exist.

This my first time listening to an audio book and I really enjoyed it! If you're interested in this book at all, go for it. I almost want to buy a hard copy just to have!

Refreshing

I listened back to back to both this book and Warringtons Sober Curious and found them in chanting and thought-provoking. It is good to know that the Now Age is thriving.

whether you're extremely knowledgeable of "now-age" practices of just opening the door, ruby warrington has created a space where we can learn and discuss all things dear to us and understand we are not alone. so grateful to have come across this book of pure magic. this is my guide to stay on track and a greatly needed reminder to love myself and the small things that i'm passionate about. can recommend this read enough.
