Publisher's summary

What would happen if you started listening to your cravings instead of trying to silence them? If you’re tired of the same old messages of eat less and move more, this audiobook is what you’ve been missing. You know “how to” get healthy...but now there’s finally an audiobook to help you find your “want to” - the lasting emotional and spiritual motivation to meet your goals and stay healthy.

The reality is we were made to crave. Craving isn’t a bad thing. But we must realize God created us to crave more of him. Many of us have misplaced that craving by overindulging in physical pleasures instead of lasting spiritual satisfaction. New York Times best-selling author of It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way, Uninvited, and The Best Yes, Lysa TerKeurst, invites you to find the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen.

In this audiobook, Lysa will help you:

  • Break the cycle of “I’ll start again Monday” and feel good about yourself today.
  • Stop agonizing over numbers on the scale and make peace with your body.
  • Replace rationalizations that lead to failure with wisdom that leads to victory.
  • Reach your healthy goals and grow closer to God through the process.

This is not a how-to audiobook. This is not the latest and greatest dieting plan. This audiobook is the necessary companion for you to use alongside whatever healthy lifestyle plan you choose. This is an audiobook and Bible study to help you find the "want to" in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Everything. I have listen to the book more than 7 times. It motivates me and assists me in overcoming my food addiction.

I enjoyed the book was based on a spiritual perspective and included biblical notes. Lisa was right on about the fight with food addiction.

Life Changing Book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Made to Crave to be better than the print version?

I have prefered listening to this book though I own a printed version as well because it's a tough subject for me. Being able to listen has been easier to do as it really has made me take a hard look at my own habits, never an easy subject, and begin to change them. Hearing it makes me feel like I have a partner to help me make some difficult changes for the better!

What did you like best about this story?

We all have excuses we use to justify behavior that is less than stellar, in this case, how we handle food issues. The author, Lisa, has used all the same excuses I've had myself. Seeing them in print or hearing them read aloud makes me realize how wrong they are and how much I've been lying to myself and BELIEVING the lies! With God's help I'm beginning to see them for what they are and am starting to see changes in my attitudes and behavior. And isn't that why we read a book like this?

Any additional comments?

I love this book because it's causing me to realize that my walk with God can be sweeter and more personal as I invite Him into my struggle with food issues. It's nourishing my soul as it improves my physical health. What a great combination! This book came highly recommended by two close friends and I'm so glad I took their advice and read it! You should too!

Break the Vicious Cycle!

Would you consider the audio edition of Made to Crave to be better than the print version?

I didn't get the print version, as I have very limited time to read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Made to Crave?

So many great quotes in this book! I listen to it repeatedly, to keep my mind focused on Biblical truth. Because I have received Christ by faith, I can access His power over food temptations by faith, and have seen this happen repeatedly as I follow Lysa's counsel to

What does Jill Brennan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jill does a great job with expression, and her enthusiasm helped me feel Lysa's encouragement. I rated the reading 4 stars instead of 5 because of a few mispronounced words that initially confused me. These were obvious mistakes that should have been fixed by a review before final production, in my opinion.

Any additional comments?

I have studied the issue of wine in the Bible (mentioned in the first 2 minutes of the chapter on over-indulgence), and believe Lysa's pastor was dead-wrong and woefully ignorant to surmise the wine at Cana was alcoholic in nature. The scriptural evidence is overwhelming; get out a Strong's concordance and check out every reference to wine, you will find the same word is used for grape juice and for alcohol, and the meaning is determined by the context. Prov. 23:29-35 and other passages that are clearly talking about alcohol are undeniably against its consumption. Further, the Bible consistently uses yeast and fermentation to picture sin. In addition to these Biblical reasons, I also own a copy of a booklet by a pastor who visited Israel many years ago, and was able to see firsthand examples of traditional

Relatable and full of truth!

Lysa has done a fantastic job of laying out everything she was feeling, struggling with and going through. And you know what.. it’s exactly how I feel! This book has given me a new perspective on how my addiction and emotional dependency on food is preventing me from living fully in the Lord.

Understanding that God does want to help me be the best me I can be is life changing. I plan to listen to this book again and again to remind me that I am made for more!

Excited about my next choice

Lysa connects with the reader on not just a surface level about food, but on a deeper emotional level, peeling back the layers of our past like an onion. Unearthing the secrets of our hearts, which have fed our defeat, our lack of self control and the negative image we place on ourselves. She guides you on a spiritual journey, to make a choice of Victory. To rely on God for fulfillment and not on physical things like food. Thankful for this book and about my next choice!

Great Way to Reflect on Food Dependency

Anyone who might struggle with emotional eating or over eating around get togethers will appreciate the way Lysa speaks to our hearts during those moments and offers suggestions on how best to handle them by turning to God rather than food. I loved it.
