"A mesmerizing speaker...anyone interested in holistic healing or the power of the mind should check this out." (Boston Globe)
Carolyn Myss is awesome in this beginner level explaining our bodies, chakras and how physical reflects emotional. The only problem I had was the sound quality with the lower level of 2 not allowing her words to be clear and sometimes not understandable at all. This is an excellent start to helping you understand that there is "stuff" in our lives that we must let go and how to discern how our physical dis-ease is reflective of it. Even if you have heard it before from others, her insight is much deeper.
I read "Anatomy of the Spirit" a few years ago and found much meaning in it then. I have since been guided from time to time to pick it up and again found the help and support that was needed. In this live presentation, however, I feel C.M. personally explores in even greater depth the material in her book. She brings the concepts to life always bringing them back to and framing them within the question, "What does consciousness mean?" I love this audio! I have listened to it over and over and continue, each time, to be moved and inspired by it.
This is a very expansive talk relating emotional wellness and spirituality using 3 different "religious" platforms. It crosses 3 different belief systems: Catholic Christianity, Jewish-Kabbalah, and Buddhism/Hinduism. We are now reading the book. If this interests you, you may just want to buy the book, however the teaching that you get from this recording is outstanding. I am on my third time listening to it.
I was surprised to find that this was not a reading of the book, but rather a recorded seminar on the subject of the book by the author. I was disappointed, as I wanted to hear a reading of the actual book, which I am physically reading and thought that the audio version would help the reinforce the information.
I did not enjoy the author's "preachy" tone. I just wanted to hear a reading of the book, not feel like I was attending a sermon at church. Her dramatic pauses and repeating of sentences for emphasis were too much for me. It became too distracting. The information is good, so I am just sticking to reading the book.
i enjoyed and will enjoy this book. I am a bit of a rebel so some of the language is too authoritian for me but the content is great. i am working to learn about chakra and engery in the body.
This is not fiction where you can put your own emphasis where you want to. To "hear" the teacher speak it is invaluable for me. My son with his busy schedule finds it preferable also.
Yes. It was very well explained by Caroline and the information is fascinating. I will listen repeatedly as I'm sure I will get more out of it each time. I'm a huge Carolyn Myss fan, she has a great deal of credibility on this subject.
How did this wine get in my teacup?
I really, really wanted to enjoy this and try to dip my toe in spirituality as someone who rationalized her way out of Lutheranism as a teen. But spirituality is neither science nor logic, and this author's self-described realizations about mystical and spiritual truths were not particularly convincing or believable to me. Perhaps some of them correspond to other systems of mysticism, but as someone with a science and engineering background, I always remember the mantra that correlation is not causation, and concepts like bidirectional causality (assuming any of this could be true!). I get the concept of faith. But this stuck me as so off the deep end that I was having trouble attempting to suspend my doubt, disbelief, and urge to ridicule for long enough to attempt to put any of this into practice. It screams of New Age Feel-Good Middle-Class Privilege, of which some argue that the whole New Age movement is just an expression.
I do give Ms. Myers credit for her exuberant performance, her passion, and her own self-confidence in this endeavor. If you can buy into this kind of thing and it works for you, maybe it's not so awful. Personally, I prefer slightly less mystical systems such as Buddhism, which is not without its own special flavor of mysticism, but which I find decidedly more stoic and devoid of the trappings of belief while being replete with near-universally accepted ethical principles.
Nope. Too fluffy.
Ms. Myss herself gave a spectacular performance.
Disappointment in the illusion of hope so commonly binge-ingested by desperate baby boomers.
Maybe not the best summer reading if you are under 45 or hold a degree in one of the STEM fields.
"This Audio is NOT the actual Book but.........."
I would always recommend anything from Caroline as she is a fantastic teacher and has so much wisdom to impart about us and our planet called earth school.
Caroline helps us to glimpse into why we are here on this planet through so many life times and how best to understand ourselves and others but most of all because her teachings resonate with me completely.
I enjoy her speaking tone, it is firm yet compassionate - authoritative but gentle, which enables one to listen, explore, contemplate and interact. Her teachings help us step outside our comfort zone, to check the waters, so to speak, but feeling supported and secure at all times.
Always, but this audio is only just over 2 hours so it is possible.
My comments were going to be completely negative because this audio book is NOT THE ACTUAL BOOK ITS SELF, which would be classed as false advertising! would it not?
I was so looking forward to listening to the original book and is what I thought I had spent my credit on!!
Instead it is a workshop teaching and Audible should make this clear in their description.
BUT having said that this audio is very life enhancing (as all of her work) and worth listening to.
My question to Audible is " Do you actually have the original book as an audio book please" Thank you.
