Publisher's summary

From Jimmy Blackmon comes a blow-by-blow account of his journey through the most challenging leadership and small tactics course in the world - US Army Ranger School. Through colorful dialogue and vivid storytelling for which Jimmy Blackmon has been praised, the listener will take a journey through Ranger School.

From the nervous anticipation leading up to the course, to the extreme pain and suffering Ranger School demands, Jimmy shares the feelings and emotions that accompany extreme sleep and food deprivation. Furthermore, he shares what he learned about himself along the way.

Ranger School is designed to replicate the extreme nature of combat in a multitude of environments. The attrition rate is more than 50 percent. Jimmy openly shares how he dealt with extreme hunger, exhaustion, below-freezing temperatures, and ultimately, a desire to quit and end the suffering.

Being a graduate of Ranger class 04/1972, my RANGER buddy was a helicopter pilot. I enjoyed this review of trials and tribulations. Thanks for the memories RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

A Must Read for Any Army Buff

The introduction sucks and I almost stopped listening. I'm glad I didn't. From the first chapter to the last, it's a great book that reads like a novel. If you want to know about Ranger School, this is the best book you'll ever read. Skip the intro and enjoy the book.

5 Stars in Every Way

My sincere apologies to Jimmy. Earlier today, I rated the book and presentation 5 stars but the overall review shows only one star. I made mistake when I inadvertently selected 1 star. It’s a 5 star book in every way. I graduated from Ranger school in March of 1968, and this book excellently shows what it takes to earn the black and gold tab. Truly outstanding presentation.

Army Rangers

Exciting well written accounts of the army ranger selection school. Sergeant Blackman does an awesome job and re-accounting his experience and sharing it with his audience. Highly recommend
