Arrastrado por su vitalista esposa Evelyn a unas vacaciones en San Sebastián, el patólogo Quirke pronto deja de echar de menos el lúgubre y sombrío Dublín para empezar a disfrutar de los paseos, el buen clima, el mar y el txakoli.
