Publisher's summary

Forget Halloween or Friday the 13th.

It’s the annual President’s Day sale at Addison’s Hardware, and business is booming.

Becky Hozier is a single mother trying to make some extra cash as part-time help.

But there are secrets inside Addison’s, secrets that can only stay buried so long. Now’s the time for all to be revealed.

Can Becky handle the truth when those secrets hit too close to home? How is she connected to Addison’s and the awful thing the employees have been hiding for the past twenty years?

When the bodies start piling up, will she “ax” for mercy, or face her attacker head-on?

It’s President’s Day, and prices aren’t the only thing they’re slashing this year.

Horror author C. Dennis Moore pays homage to the '80s slasher flicks of his youth with this next installment in his Holiday Horrors series. President’s Day is sure to make you rethink that next home improvement project!

Another well written & enjoyable read/listen

President's Day, my seventy-first read from author C. Dennis Moore. Well written & enjoyable re-read, I always look forward to the next work from him. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." Brittany Lee McDonald’s narration made this short re-read even more enjoyable. The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author and in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

What really happens behind the scenes of the sale?

I’ve read several of C. Dennis Moore’s stories and each of the five previous Holiday Horror books, so I knew what to expect when I settled into reading President’s Day, but I was blown away by how well this story was written. I think President’s Day is Mr. Moore’s best story yet, the story and action moved along at an excellent pace allowing the reader to get to know the characters and their backgrounds. I wasn’t expecting any of the twists that were built into this story which made the impact even better. After finishing the story, I was struck by a thought, is the story really over once you’ve read that final page? In this case I’m not so sure if this story really ends on the last page.

My review above was posted in May of 2021, but today - 4/27/2022 - I listened to the audiobook for President’s Day and not only do my feelings about this story remain the same, I believe listening to Brittany Lee McDonald narrate it furthered my feelings about the story. If it is possible to enjoy a story even more than the first time, then I have experienced it – and I believe it is one of those rare combinations of excellent story meets excellent narrator.
