Publisher's summary

“Gripping and suspenseful.... Child ratchets up the suspense to new heights.” (The Denver Post)

Jack Reacher lives for the moment. Without a home. Without commitment. And with a burning desire to right wrongs - and rewrite his own agonizing past. DEA Susan Duffy is living for the future, knowing that she has made a terrible mistake by putting one of her own female agents into a death trap within a heavily guarded Maine mansion.

Staging a brilliant ruse, Reacher hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise. Trying to rescue an agent whose time is running out, Reacher enters a crime lord’s waterfront fortress. There he will find a world of secrecy and violence - and confront some unfinished business from his own past.

Number seven in the Jack Reacher series

Another Awesome Reacher Story!!!

Just loved it. I read a few of the novels at random and now I'm going through them in order. It's really not necessary to do that but it's what I prefer. "Without Fail" I thought was the top end but I think "Persuader" actually out did it! If you like the audiobooks, the narrator, Dick Hill does a great job reading the story. Get it and enjoy!

One of Lee Child’s best

Great action and drama. Reacher is a plausible super hero with brains, fighting skills, humor and ethics.

Classic Reacher, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve read all of the Jack reacher books and this one floats to the top as one of my favorites. Great Story, consistent momentum, plenty of action, solid characters and a well crafted parallel memory sequence that builds with the story. Lee Child really is the best at what he does, you will struggle to find anything better. This book ticks all the boxes for me. 5 Stars.

Good overall Story, but not Child's Best

when compared to many others of the genre, Lee Child's Jack Reacher series rises to the very top. However, PERSUADER, when held side by side with his other works, isn't quite making the grade. Don't get me wrong, I am a steadfast Lee Child admirer, candy will read everything he writes This one bothered me, and here's why.
I'm
Child asks us to suspend disbelief far too often in PERSUADER, which is something I found ironic, as none of it succeeded in persuading me. After awhile. the story began to wend its way toward fantasy, much better suited to the teenaged male demographic. Jack Reacher may be a tough guy, but please don't ask me to believe he can leap tall buildings at a single bound? I just can't do it. Honestly.

One last gripe and I'll stop kvetching (Yiddish trans. Complaining);. When searching Audible for a book by Lee Child or Michael Connelly, or whomever, I always look for something more recently published. I devour these books, and before losing most of my vision, would read up to five books of more per week. It's frustrating to begin listening, only to discover I've already plowed through it. I've found that Audible lists only the date the book was released on Audible, and not the date it was PUBLISHED. That's the most important date, as far as I'm concerned.

One of Reacher's Best!

This is the fifth Reacher book I've read and is probably tied with that very first novel as the best so far.

The main advantage here is the first person perspective. While I feel like a lot of novels lose something if written in first person Reacher novels feel that much more accessible and immersive.

We're not switching to somewhere or someone else, we get Reacher's direct visceral reaction and see him puzzle through each fight or mystery as if we are right in the action. This leads to one of the most thrilling bare knuckle brawls I've heard in a Reacher novel thus far and a harrowing scene of Reacher fighting to stay alive as he nearly drowns.

While I love it when Reacher is just passing through this novel has a more personal plot tied to Reacher's military cop past that lines up really well thanks to cleverly interspersed flashbacks.

Really great stuff here, no on to the next novel!
