Publisher's summary

Jammer Davis has spent most of his life investigating aircraft accidents. When a small regional jet disappears over the jungles of Colombia, it is a tragedy like dozens of others he has seen...but for one terrible detail, his young daughter, who was en route to a semester abroad in South America, is listed on the passenger manifest.

A distraught Davis rushes to Bogotá and bulls his way into the inquiry. When the wreckage is located, it becomes clear the crash was unsurvivable. As the investigation gains momentum, the facts go astray. Two pilots had been shot before the crash, along with one passenger. The possibility of a hijacking looms large as the search begins to focus on two passengers who boarded the plane, yet their remains cannot be found.

Davis uncovers an even more sinister plot behind the entire disaster - one that goes to the highest levels of the United States government. But how could it possibly involve his daughter?

Really liked it.

I listen to audio books to be entertained. A book must hold my attention and maintain my interest. That is what Passenger 19 did. A good mystery. Action and intrigue. I like the main character. I intend to listen to every book in the series. By the way...this is how it works for me. If I get one book from an author and find it bores me, or the narrater makes listening uncomfortable, I don't get anything else from the author and avoid books that use the narrator. (I assume that is what most of us do.). On the other hand, if I like the author and narrator, if the book is a good read, I get everything in the series. The problem with this approach is, once I exhaust the work of my favorite author, who do I listen to next? I have to start a search and hope I don't get burned by giving someone new a try. With Ward Larson and the Jammer Davis Character a wonderful discovery has been made! I took a chance of the book and am glad I did. Is it fantastic literature? That isn't the issue. It is a good story, a good listen and well written. That is what matters to me.

my favorite Jammer story yet!

This one is exciting and funny, with several hero types, and some serious scumbags. If you like your cavalry Han Solo Rambo style, this is the book for you. Colombian drug lords and kidnappers, US coverup, a plane crash, and corruption in the police. There will still be a few surprises even after you've pegged the bad guy. The narrator did a great job with both the French and Spanish accents, except for the hard g in Cartagena. And I can't tell if the beer-sandwiches-and-stories "siesta" was an author mistake or a narration mistake. Nobody's perfect, and I enjoyed the book.

Excellent, detailed detective story

Ward Larsen is a rapidly improving writer of great merit, although he does have the modern writers fashionable disease of over use of the ridiculous cliches, "long moment and blew out a long breath," sigh. That's my only caveat.

Jammer Davis is an excellent character, who is a retired pilot who now works for the NTSB as a flight accident investigator.

The close detail of the nature of these investigations will not be comfortable for those afeared of flying, but they are superbly traced. It is a grim business, but fascinating.

The narrator is competent with rather too much of a penchant for accents for my taste, but that doesn't bother some listeners.

Good stuff, enjoy.

Could of been better

It for me started out for the 1st half too much jargon and and of been shortened. Would of been better with more on the edge of your seat. Last third was really good
