Publisher's summary

Anna Strong seems finally to have achieved the right balance between her vampire and human lives. She’s looking forward to a normal summer with her husband and step son when an old enemy from the past appears - the vampire Chael - and what he reveals changes everything. Someone is writing Anna’s story under the guise of fiction and threatens to expose the vampire world unless Anna grants the author what she desires most...a vampire existence of her own.

Life becomes even more complicated when her business partner, David, and their boss become victims of a Ponzy scheme. But it’s more than money at stake. Someone is killing off the investors one by one. It’s up to Anna and David to find out who before their boss becomes the next victim.

why change narrators!!

it is book 10, first, why. change narrators after 9 successful books ? Worse than a new narrators is that said new narrator has changed the pronunciation of main character names!! By chapter 2 I was grinding my teeth when listening to all the mispronounced names!! Did she not listen to the previous books?? She needs to do her homework !!
I love this series but I am almost ready to return this book due to these pronunciation issues!
Jeanne Stein what were you thinking doing this on book 10!!!!

Loved the book

But the narrator sucked !!!!!!!!!!! What happened to Dina Pearlman she was awesome as Anita & all the other voices. Why switch from something that works to something that doesn't???

Can Listen as a Standalone

I listened to this story in the series first. It works great stand alone, I was able to enjoy the story along with characters. Performance from both narrators was really good.

Such a good book! Kept me interested. Didn’t want to put it down! Great narrators. Love that there was a male and female. Made it so much easier to follow. Highly recommend!

Vampire lite!

This is my introduction to the Anna Strong Chronicles. Anna, her husband Frey a shapeshifter, and her partner David run a bail bond/bounty hunter service tracking down bail skippers for legitimate purposes and rogue vampires on the side. There are thirteen tribes in the vampire world, Chael is the leader of the Middle-Eastern cabal, Anna is the leader over all of them; The Chosen One. The vampire society is decentralized, each tribe governs itself. The thirteen only gather for a watershed event. The last one was Anna assuming the position of The Chosen One. The story begins with a paranormal author, Janet Carlisle writing a book that has Chael troubled. He contacts Anna, explaining that Carlisle is writing about her. Where she lives, her son, her husband, and her day job; everything except her name. Carlisle must be stopped. Plot number two has David and his financial partner Duke involved in a Ponzi scheme. David is an ex-pro football player who had amassed quite a bit of wealth over his career. If that’s not enough, Duke is implicated in the death of the Ponzi financial advisor. Another stranger was present at the meeting with Duke and the advisor. Now the stranger and the money are gone. We’ll follow Anna and David as they fit the puzzle pieces together to solve the multiple crimes. Janet Carlisle will prove to be quite different than first presumed. Three.point.five. Great audio book

I really enjoyed this audio book. I didn’t actually know this was the 10th and could still keep up with what was going on which was amazing. I loved the story line and characters and the narrator did a great job

Different Narrators

This book had plenty of action and some romance. The narration was good but a little distracting at first because it had different narrators. It took half the book before the new narration began to replace the old Anna in my mind. The story wasn't as great as some of the previous books but it was a good listen.

Keep'em coming

Awesome as always. I can't wait for the next one. I hope the future ones will be 8 hours or longer like the previous main books in the series.

Good uncomplicated listen

This is the second book I have read/listened to by this author and I would like to listen to another. I actually listened to the first book in this series a few years ago. I did not realize that until I looked up the author and this series. Now I’m interested to hear what happened in the eight books in between. Having missed so much of the series was not really a problem. This book has its own story thread to be resolved so it is not difficult to get a grasp of what’s going on or the characters in it. Of course, there is some background information that I am missing but, it did not cause any issues when listening to this book. ——-
This is the first book I have listened to by Germaine Miller. She does very well with the expression in her narration. Her narration is like natural speech and drew me in so it felt I was listening to the main character as the action was happening. Her audio quality is crisp. She narrates most of the book including the “he said...Frey asks...etc.)——-This is the first book I’ve listened to by Nicolas Cain. His audio quality has a different sound to it , a bit like he’s on speaker phone and Germaine is in the room. He differentiates the characters but each one has the same cadence/ tone to it.——-I noticed none of the previous books had multiple narrators. I am unsure why the switch was made here. Personally, I think it is unnecessary and it took me a little bit to get into the story with the disruption of the second narrator. Eventually I did become a custom to it, but I think I would still prefer the book was only read by Germaine.
There is short, mildly, but not explicitly described sex scene, there is not excessive violence, there is swearing. ——-
