What a wonderful story.

I am a big Dickens fan. And this incredibly well narrated version of Our Mutual Friend does not disappoint.

Mature, patient Dickens

Off with a very slow start but finally finds it’s pace and we can again enjoy a good story with villians and heroines. Dickens seems to grow more romantic as he ages and more kind to his female characters. Unfortunately the narrator was not great with the female voices.

I enjoyed the characters but and when I could keep up I enjoyed the detailed history’s of each of them as they were introduced

As much as I enjoyed the characters I felt there were too many to keep up with (im a bit slower than most). I was a third of a way through the story before I knew who most of them were. This was my reason for 4 stars and not five but again most listeners probably could give this book a five for what it was and without comparing. After knowing the story was coming to an end shortly I began to miss some of the characters like Bella and Lizzy of course.

Several plots

Several plots are weaved together exploring how money and power effects people. I enjoyed the narration.

Fresh and vibrant reading of this classic

This is my favorite Dickens story, and this was an amazing performance of it! The narrator gives fully life to the many, many characters in this book. And through his subtle expressiveness, renders the meaning of even very archaic bits of dialogue comprehensible to the modern listener.

Very Enjoyable

Charles Dickens was such a wordsmith. I soon discovered that I had to listen attentively to catch the subtle jokes and jabs that flew past with no fan fare. Thoroughly enjoyable. I was sorry to come to the end.
