There is a new revolution happening in sports as more and more athletes are basing their success on this game-changing combination: health, nutrition, training, recovery, and mindset. Unfortunately, the evidence-based techniques that the expert PhDs, academic institutions, and professional performance staffs follow can be in stark contrast to what many athletes actually practice. When combined with the noise of social media, old-school traditions, and bro-science, it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction.

Publisher's summary
Are you an athlete or have an active lifestyle and want to be in great shape? Do you want to adopt the perfect nutritional regimen and keep your weight in check?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, keep reading....
The diet of an athlete or an active person varies quite a lot from that of a layperson. This is so because the two have very different lifestyles. With the former, it is all about living loud, doing more, and always being in the shape of their lives. However, a lot of these athletes and active people are not aware of the best nutritional options for them.
There are a ton of nutritional and diet options for athletes and active people to choose from. Often-times, these options are presented in such a complicated manner that they seem overwhelming. A great nutritional plan can help active folks with enhancing their performance, helping them keep an ideal weight profile, improving their sleep, and energizing them to name a few benefits. This book makes the process of nutritional selection incredibly easy and straightforward so athletes and active people can focus on living better.
With this practical guide, here is what else you’ll learn:
- Why is it absolutely critical for athletes and folks with active lifestyles to get their nutrition right
- How do you get to the bottom of what comprises great nutrition, separating science from marketing
- What are macronutrients and micronutrients, what do they do, and how do you better understand them before you consume them
- What are the most effective forms of liquid nutrition and hydration options available
- How can you balance your athletic passion with having special dietary requirements
- Why the right nutritional plan is difficult to follow up with, and how can you develop better discipline is staying the course
And much more!
Devising a nutritional plan can be quite a challenging ordeal because of the many factors involved in the process. But once you figure it out, it can set you up for a lifetime of success. This book is based on common sense, details what works in a simple, easy-to-follow way, and can get you started on the right track within a day.

Story
There is no bigger public health story now than the collapse in youth mental health. The numbers are terrifying and dominate our headlines. There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.

Story
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows.

Useful, information-packed nutrition guide
Very well organized guide, with ton of useful information and tips for choosing a healthy diet. Even though I was familiar with much food industry marketing misinformation and label deceits, I still learnt a few things from this chapter. I liked the healthy eating tips and a breakdown of nutritional value of different foods - vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts. Well worth the listen.

Simple, Educational, Relatable
The author did an amazing job simplifying the role of nutrition in not only athletes, but everyday individuals. The early chapters on how the food industry used false information for profit; is a message everyone needs to hear. Knowing the author is an athlete himself, this book holds tons of value that everyone can, and should learn from. Well written, well thought out, and well done!

Great delivery of pertinent information!
We all need this information and wow does it deliver! EJ Harrison did a great job and my favorite chapter is chapter 4 - understanding micronutrients. Mismanaging our micronutrients is obviously happening more often than we think. Strength and metabolism are so important and I loved hearing about how the micros are less known than the macros and just how important they are. I recommend that you add this book to your audible library!

Great nutrition book for everyone
I'm no athlete, but I found this book informational and helpful for couch potatoes. It gave me a new perspective on the deceptions in food marketing. I also learned some new things about liquids and the importance of hydration in chapter 5. This book is easy to flow. The narrator keeps you interested. Highly recommend this book.

Simple and Informative !
I absolutely loved this! Simple and straight to the point, while not missing any details.. This is information that is taught in a college level course, broken down in a vernacular that ANYONE can understand.. IN THREE HOURS.. Would definitely recommend all aspiring pro athletes take a listen, as well as anyone trying to stay fit and live long. Well Done !
