"The Plight of Two Mothers Scorned"
What did you love best about Every Mother's Nightmare?

The way the Narrator guided you thru this plight of the two mothers and made you feel every bit of their angst while this whole process was drug out.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The way it really brought out the families feeling of victimization through the whole process, over and over again.

What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The way he put feeling into the characters even the ones you might have dismissed or hated and gave you the sense of life for the book, he really put a heartbeat into the book.

If you could give Every Mother's Nightmare a new subtitle, what would it be?

Every Mother's Nightmare, and how the justice process can take forever

"A Heartbreaking and Exasperating True Crime Story"
Would you consider the audio edition of Every Mother's Nightmare to be better than the print version?

If you have no time to read, then yes, the audiobook is better! However, really comparing them to each other, I'd say the narrator did just as fantastic a job as my own mind would! Perfect tone for a true crime book!

What other book might you compare Every Mother's Nightmare to and why?

I kept thinking about the book A Deadly Game by Catherine Crier about the Scott Peterson case. That and the one written by John and Patsy Ramsey called The Death of Innocence. Every Mother's Nightmare reminded me of A Deadly Game because of all the facts and dates it gives you, yet you don't feel like the story is lost in the many details given. I thought about The Death of Innocence because that's another book that made me cry, and it was also about the murder of a child.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Pierce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first audiobook narrated by Kevin Pierce, and I thought he did a fantastic job! His tone was just right for a true crime book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Every part that dealt with emotions of the mothers and how they dealt with them was hard for me to read. It hit way too close to home.

    "Heartbreaking but interesting"

This book was both very heartbreaking and interesting

Two children were found murdered and the hunt goes in to find the perpetrator or perpetrators

We learn about drug relations. Different suspects as well as different motives from sexual to revenge

I believe we get a authentic insight into the pain and fight for justice these parents went trough

    A good book

    Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene is when Rick finds the children. His reaction is so actually how you would be.

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."As someone who had friends with murdered child, I know all the legal matters drag on for a long time. This book shares two mothers' journey, from loss of their children, to prosecution of accused. This is a heartbreaking account that made me very sad for all involved. It made me wonder about life style choices of everyone involved. If the children were from more prominent families, would the case been handled differently? I enjoyed the narration. The voice and elocution were pleasant.

    "Sad but great story"
If you could sum up Every Mother's Nightmare in three words, what would they be?

    Real life mystery

You feel so bad for the families involved. Will their nightmare ever end?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Every Mother's Nightmare?

The fact that he almost got away with it all.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Pierce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

How Rick acted about it all. The fact he felt he could get away with it and almost did.

""As usual, brilliance from Charles Bosworth, Jr.""
Where does Every Mother's Nightmare rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've been lucky enough not to have listened to too many "duds". However, I would put this in the top 25%. So given how many great books I've listened to in this genre, that's a compliment.

What other book might you compare Every Mother's Nightmare to and why?

"Misbegotten Son" by Jack Olsen. While the Shawcross story is more about a serial killer, psychopath as opposed to this story, the agony of mothers that lost children is a huge part of that narrative. And of course, Kevin Pierce is brilliant in his narration.

What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Kevin always brings a sense of character differentiation through voice inflections that I might not do while reading it in my head.

    Any additional comments?

Just that this was the quintessential Bosworth-Pierce partnership that makes for a great audiobook. The story had a great flow to it. There's enough detail to keep you interested - but not so much you get bogged down in the details and begin to lose sight of what the story is really all about.

    "Another Great True Crime story"

Once again Kevin Pierce brings the characters to life. It's a sad story. What the mothers endeared over the years to see their trial finally start was heartbreaking. It's a good listen.

    "Wonderful narration, well-written, but..."

Charles Bosworth and Kevin Pierce, always a winning combination. My problem with this book is completely personal. Because listening is do much more intimate than reading, I struggled with empathy for the younger child's mother. I understand many behaviors in the face of grief, including lashing out at others, drug abuse, and depression. Everyone handles pain and loss differently.
But this mother runs amok, it feels, vindictive and careless with others, and then...she tries to firebomb a residence with a mother and child inside.
I found myself cringing every time Pierce said her name by the end of the book. The epilogue feels like a presentation (or debate speech) written by this mother, actually, rather than Bosworth.

I would read it again, definitely, but knowing what I know now, I think just would read it in paper or e-book format. Maybe one more degree of distance from this mother would help me not feel this way.
