What were the founders thinking?

What made the experience of listening to Ameritopia the most enjoyable?

This book is an educational, fact based dissertation on the principles on which our founding fathers based our Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States. In it, Levin references, over and over, the great thinkers and their philisophies that influenced the language and ideals set forth in those all-important documents. This is not a book of fiction or even opinion. It is a well thought-out illustration of the destructive ideals creeping into our culture, which are clearly contrary to our founders intentions.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Levin contrasts, in depth, the thinking of various individuals, such as Plato, Thomas Hobbs, Thomas Moore, Karl Marx, et al...whose goals were to envision and design a Utopian, albeit impossible, society in which all needs are met by an altruistic, benevolent sovreign, admittedly at the cost of individual liberty and personal freedom.
Further, he illustrates how those soul-sapping social structures run counter to the ideals embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Then he goes on to lay out the thinking of the philosophers whom the founders embraced, and the debates that shaped the language and principles that formed our great nation.
Finally, he lays out a very cogent arguement why the current entitlement mentallity and the culture of big government is precisely what the founders feared and warned about repeatedly, and how they PURPOSELY tried to structure our Constitution in an effort to prevent what is clearing occurring, and threatening to destroy our great nation.

Which scene was your favorite?

The book makes clear that the founders fully intended that the Constitution was meant to limit government and was to be followed literally. It IS NOT, nor was it intended to be, a

If you could give Ameritopia a new subtitle, what would it be?

Our Willing Decent Into Tyranny

Restoring America's Focus to its Future

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, when a random sidewalk survey of Americans reveals that they can name the finalists on American Idol, but not their elected officials nor major current events, we need to aggressively emphasize how the populus is voluntarily relinquishing their rights so they can be taken care of by the gov't and have time to waste viewing and believing

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The presentation of the historical progression of socialist theories.

What does Adam Grupper and Mark R. Levin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Personally, I enjoy the freedom to visualize the material as it it read by a narrator. In print, I tend to reread detailed material, which can detract from the flow.

Great Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, it answers that nagging question of why progressives think what they think. if only they could require everyone to follow their rules, everyone would be happy; he also explains why that cannot work. progressives are all about intentions and evasive on results.

Not as Good as I Expected

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No - it really was not up to Levin's normal level of excellence. The data was factual (and frightening) but too dry.

The Paul Revere of Authors Writes Again

What Paul Revere might have signaled with three lanterns... "One if by land, two if by sea, and three if by incremental usurpation of rights and liberties in the name of social justice and initiated by the very representatives you elected to protect those same rights and liberties." It doesn't quite roll off the tongue, I admit. Mark Levin, Constitutional scholar without equal in ANY American age, is signalling that enemies of freedom are engaging us. His arguments are logical and sound, and America would do well to heed the warning.

Awful

I could only get through 2 chapters of this overblown piece of junk. Good grief! Do people really buy this kind of rant? Why would Audible promote this book?
