Publisher's summary

A high-stakes, action-packed adventure perfect for fans of the Wings of Fire and How to Train Your Dragon series

No one predicted the dragon apocalypse. The dragons came suddenly and decimated the world as we knew it, including New York City. Now, three years later, Noah, his hardcore survivalist father, and a ragtag group of survivors are barely scraping by in this new reality. Kids scavenge not only for materials in abandoned homes but also for leftover books at the library. Adults spend their time establishing a make-shift society and defending their shelter… with any means available. At least for the few months the dragons are hibernating, until it’s no longer safe aboveground.

Noah has seen the damage these creatures can do firsthand. When it comes to dragons: It’s kill or be killed. But a chance encounter between Noah and a young dragon forces him to question everything he thought he knew. With rumors spreading that there’s a group of survivors living in harmony with dragons instead of hiding underground, Noah teams up with his fire-breathing ally to find out if peace between humans and dragons is really possible. But the division runs deeper than scales versus skin because trying to follow his heart might just cost Noah his family too. If Noah and his father can’t see eye to eye, can he really get humans and dragons to?

The reader did a great job!! I loved his different voices and the sound effects he used for the dragons’s wings. The story was filled with adventure and intense moments. Highly recommend this book!

There better be a sequel

I loved this take on dragon books. I gave this five stars but I will be very disappointed if there isn’t a sequel because I feel like so much more can be done with it!

Loved it

Great story line. My daughters and I listen in the car. The characters ending felt realistic even with the dragons.

Okay…not Great

I am unsure if there will be more books after this in this world.

It was a decent story and idea with the next generation needing to do what the previous could not. The main characters able to grow and do things that their parents or older figures in their life are unable to do or refuse to do. Since it is written from kids POV and mostly got younger readers the style of writing not being great makes sense.

Even then the MC seems to be a kids age but with how he thinks and acts he seems to be bi-polar with how mature he can be. Too hard of a switch or gradual change. He is younger then 16 but will randomly act like a 25-30 year old with his speech. It is not very consistent. The dragons it isn’t too big a deal as she handle things better then the human does.

The dad being a US vs THEM, overly falling for whatever the media said hard core man was more of an annoyance then reasonable. He had clearly waiting for a reason to be the hero no one asked him to be. His entire mood refuses to change when at times their are chances for that to happen. Damn this he was not enjoyable even with his “change” I was hoping he was just dead.

Where the dragons came from should have been explained more so. Or having the humans find out where they came from after things got less tense. After the rescue at the end that should have been explored. Or explored at some point. Very much a mess there and too little shown of this. Too much of a; Boom! Dragons for no reason for the past few years. No mentions WHERE they came from OR WHY THEY ONLY SHOWED UP NOW!

Not really worth a full credit or the money should be given away with the subscriptions.
