Publisher's summary

Imagine how different your life would be if you could avoid getting the worst out of every deal you negotiate in life.

You will never quite know how much you have left on the table by lacking the negotiation skills to truly get the most out of your dealings. Whether it's negotiating that pay rise at work, attaining the best price for the house/car, or just simply getting more out of your daily interactions. All too often people fall short as they aren't equipped with the psychological strategies and behavior patterns to negotiate successfully.

Not anymore.

James Daugherty is an intelligence expert and former CIA Spy who specializes in all forms of human behavior. But there's one skill which is critical to getting ahead: negotiation. A spy would be a blunt instrument without it.

However he never realized quite how much his ability to negotiate high-level hostage situations whilst working for the FBI and key informant agreements whilst in the field as an American spy would help everyday people in civilian life.

Amazing!

The book is packed with dozens of unbelievably clever ideas you can use immediately to make better deals - to buy or sell anything, to settle lawsuits, to strike whatever deal anyone needs to make. And the book is nice and compact and fits in my brief bag or file.

5 Stars!!!!

This is a great book on negotiation, and it really changed my thinking about the topic. As someone that the author would describe as overly cooperative, I found that the book made negotiation seem approachable and doable by me. Most of the topics in the book seem like they're pretty obvious in hindsight, but they were new to me. In particular, the book emphasizes that anyone can bargain well by being themselves; you don't need to be competitive or manipulative to succeed.

Concise listen

Quick, to the point and concise. You shouldn't listen it in one go because all these techniques are described in the bare essence. It has to sink in gradually. But it really covers the ground and enhances your arsenal. Recommended!

Provides helpful essentials

Even though the book addresses key elements in the negotiation process, it focuses too much in legal issues. All in all it was worth listening.

Provides great strategies

I have to say, this is the best book on negotiation tactics and strategies I've ever listened, and that's saying a lot. It really is a complete playbook of excellent ideas for negotiating in any situation. The tips tell you how to restructure they way you present your ideas, how to recruit members of the opposing side to help you sell your positions, how to overcome objections, how to favorably reframe both your position and the position of the adversary....just on and on. I recognized some but I would say the majority of them are ones I hadn't use and wasn't aware of. I'm thrilled. Hats off to the author for sharing his methods. This is a superb book for anyone who buys, sells, or has to solve conflicts or disputes.

I really enjoyed listen to it. This book came with a Coursers training. If you take both you will take more advantage of the learning process.
