Publisher's summary

He is a good man, a brilliant corporate executive, an honest, handsome family man admired by men and desired by women. Critic reviews

"The flashbacks to Hue, the pre-trial investigation (involving an attractive female major), the court-martial proceedings, the emotions of the principal characters and the soul-sickness wrought by war (which is the story's effective subtext) all are depicted with marvelous vividness." ( Publishers Weekly)

Terrific read

Absolutely loved this book, I read it several years ago, but listening to Scott Brick on audio was great. Crazy but after finishing the audio I went back to beginning and played it again. I've read most of DeMille's books, loved them all, but now I'm buying them thru audible. I love DeMille and Scott Brick, they are the best!

Amazing

What did you love best about Word of Honor?

This is a story where Mr. DeMille has captured the essence of the Human Soul.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that Mr. Tyson never broke the code of Honor even though he was often tempted.

Which scene was your favorite?

Tyson and Brant meeting in passing and the discussion related to events that took place in Vietnam.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The truth will set you free.

Any additional comments?

I read this book many years ago and thought it one of the best Mr. DeMille had written. I wanted to reread this book, but was intrigued by the opportunity to "listen". I highly recommend both options. I hope someday there will be a Movie from this book.

I have learned more about the Vietnam war through DeMille’s writings than everywhere else combined.

Thank you sir. Nothing else needs tb be said about this book or the author’s skills.

Word of Honor

I loved it but it seemed a little slow at times which made it a little long. However, I always returned to the book and I enjoyed it.

A good listen

I'm enjoying this book a great deal. A captivating plot and provides a good picture of what Viet Nam was like for those who fought it.

Another great book from DeMille but....

I love Nelson DeMille's novels and this one is another good one.. But, I think I need to warn you, be prepared to not be very fond of the "hero" in this book... It's a different sort of DeMille book in that way.. I came of age during the Vietnam War and so I loved all the details in this novel, and except for the point mentioned above I loved the book and as usual, the Scott Brick narration was terrific... I sure hope Scott gets paid enough for what he does because, as far as I'm concerned, he is the BEST!!

Another DeMille/Brick tour de force

This moving novel keeps your total involvement from beginning to PAST the end. It stays with you.
Lt. Ben Tyson has every quality of bravery, personal principles and human weakness that most of us can only wish we had.
Scott Brick is the ideal narrator. His narrative is immediately and completely eclipsed by the characters and the story that he gives us.

Stunning!

Scott Brick has achieved the Himalaya of artistic excellence with this novel production. To the very last moment, the listener is held captive to the immeasurable suspense that is sustained. And then the listener, so engrossed with the characters and their struggles, explodes with joy as LT Tyson is given the freedom he most well deserved in a war that had no purpose and positive result.

It's a Gem - Slow but soooo worth the journey

I've become a huge fan of DeMille's stories and Brick's narration; they seem to really fit well together. I started with Charm School and found that so unique and engaging. I moved into John Corey territory and really love that character and a couple in that series I thought were outstanding. Then I found this gem. Yes, it is a gem.

Unlike previous DeMille novels, I did not like the main character. In fact I actually disliked him for much of the book, but this story... WOW.. what a great story. It does move slowly and it takes a while to really get rolling, but that was okay for me because this story felt really personal (for lack of a better word). It was a very intimate story between a very complex main character and us the listener. It was unlike anything I've listened to/ read before and I found it fascinating and intriguing

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
