    "Solid, entertaining listen"

Really a compelling listen. Tense, exciting writing, hard to put down. Author's choice of characters was unique and a bit unexpected, but managed to tie things together at the end. Epilogue was somewhat of a letdown... the huge mystery was left unrevealed, but I understand there are sequels in the works.
Narration was a bit gruff, but it worked for most of the characters.

    "Intense"

Really a compelling listen, very tense, hard to put down. Author's choice of characters was unique and he did a very good job making you think that more than one person was narrating the story. Epilogue was somewhat of a letdown... the huge mystery was left unrevealed and a few loose ends, unless there is a sequel...

    "Fast Moving and Insightful"

The reality of war as abomination and the need to dehumanize the other in order to make outright war on him comes across clearly. The bigotry exposed here is breathtaking and not far from accurate in some cases that exist today. Those who flinch at the description of MOBIC attitudes and inclinations may either be unwilling to consider the potential of some who they may know or maybe they would rather the light of day not be shinned on that potential? Overall this is a good listen. Characters are well developed and the story moves along briskly. I would highly recommend it.

    "Truely without warning!"

The charactor and acton had depth but the story jump toward the end, There seem to be parts missing or edited out. The last few chapters jump in time and the end was so abrupt it was disappointing.

"Language in book is a bit over the top."

An interesting story line. The author has a limited vocabulary for expressing the emotions of his characters, so every other sentence in the book uses the "F" word in some form or other. If he could get away from that it would be a good read. I've been in the military and have never heard as many curse words out of anyone as he uses in this book.

    "A well told story"

When I read a story with a sci-fhi component , especially one set in contemporary times, it's important that the story line and the characters make sense. In this book, given the plot line the characters all ring true! I've read many, “end of the world as we know it”, books where many of the characters could best be described as idiots! In “Without Warning” given the story line every characters actions were right on, every plot and sub-plot had the ring of truth and there were enough, “never saw that coming”, twists to make this a very compelling book!
Well worth your time and credit! Gave it a 4 only because of a few books in the same genre that were astounding

    "Once I started reading I couldn't stop"

This story is like a combination of Stephen King's Under The Dome and a Tom Clancy political thriller. And the "wave" seems like something from Left Behind. This story is something like all of all those together. My favorite characters so far are Jedd and, of course, Kipp. I am on to book two now and I am excited to see where things end up in book 3.

"Great Story no ending. Great sub plots, no endings"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This was a very good book, except no part of it was ever completed. You don't know what the mysterious cloud was but it disappeared. You do know what the US WAS; but not what not what happened to it. You kind of know the major players but not how they ended up.

The whole book was left up in the air. This is nice for selling a series but this book left all the good stories incomplete. At the end, I felt "well, hell, 15 hours later and I have no idea what happened or even where the action was heading."

I'll probably get the follow on book IF I can figure out which book tells the reader what happened to the world. I feel cheated by the author and believe he ought to revisit his style.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    NO

"Great story with a new slant on the apocolypse"

I finished the book this afternoon and ordered two sequel books this evening. Solid character development - always a crowd pleaser, Solid story line that weaves several story lines together very successfully. Really appreciate that he brought a new perspective to just what would happen if the US government disappeared. Thought provoking. Excellent narrator as well.
