Story
A night spent sleeping on dirt and leaves is not how Claire Matchett expected to spend her vacation. She thought this would be a break. A week of hiking and hot tubs with two other couple friends. Then Claire’s minivan breaks down on a lonely dirt road. With no cell reception, the group has no choice but to hike the rest of the way to their hotel. But it turns out the woods aren’t as easy to navigate as they thought. Hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost. And as they navigate deeper into the woods, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously one by one.

During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. When editor Susan Ryeland is given the manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has no reason to think it will be much different from any of his others. After working with the best-selling crime writer for years, she's intimately familiar with his detective, Atticus Pünd, who solves mysteries disturbing sleepy English villages. An homage to queens of classic British crime such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, Alan's traditional formula has proved hugely successful.

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Publisher's summary
Ten excited co-workers arrive at the beautiful Avondale Resort on a remote island in the middle of the Caribbean, having been told that they are being rewarded for their hard work and productivity. But their relaxing tropical getaway soon turns into a murderous nightmare.
After an extravagant first night dinner, the guests retire to their lavish suites only to be awakened by an ear-splitting bang. They rush to the smoking parlor to find Jordan, the company’s intern, dead - a massive hole in his chest. Giles, the consummate English butler who seems to be in charge, announces that they must solve the crime or be the next victim.
The killer, who has booby-trapped the island and cut off phone and Internet connections, is hiding among them. Is it the HR representative with a penchant for Bloody Marys, the twenty-two-year-old claims processor with the purity ring, or perhaps the head chef of the company cafeteria? The killer plays with their minds, inviting them to explore the beautiful resort, from the infinity pool with the high dive to the white sand beach complete with jet skis and snorkel gear.
Anthony E. Zuiker is the creator and executive producer of the CSI franchise, which includes CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, and CSI: NY. His mystery reality show, Whodunnit?, is his first foray into unscripted television. He lives in Los Angeles with his three children and his wife, Michelle.
Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island is performed by the show's host/butler, accomplished narrator Gildart Jackson.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Not As Good
This is the second book in the Whodunnit? series. I did a bit of looking around and it seems like it is the last book as of the time of this review. I listened to the audiobook of the first Whodunnit? Murder in Mystery Manor in October of this year. I gave it top stars. 5 out of 5.
In this second audiobook, Giles the perfect English butler finds himself in yet another evil plot to kill off 8 people in a game of life and death. But this time it is taking place on a small tropical island. Giles is forced by an anonymous killer to assist the contestants in playing the game to save his own life and the lives of the other resort staff members.
Don't worry there will not be any spoilers here at all.
In this second book, Giles mentions several time this is the third time he has gone through this situation. Say what?! This is book two. What third time? In book one that was the first time. Did I miss something. I have looked and this IS book TWO! Why would the author write that if there wasn't a third time. I knocked one whole star for that. Totally confusing!
The narrator was AMAZING and carried the story extremely well. I think I was just not into this one. I know this might seems silly to say but this audiobook seemed darker than the first one. I know there are people dropping dead in every single chapter but still. There was a deep depression throughout this book that the other book did not have.
The first book seemed like a game. More like the CLUE game board and this one was more or less like a horror story. Not funny at all! And yes there are moments when the author makes a joke or two. This one was not really my cup of tea.

I completely enjoyed listening to this book, they way the characters were introduced to the way they were murdered. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. Bravo, encore take a bow.

Great Book
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I think that this book series is really good, i love the narrator with his rich deep voice and superb english accent. I hope Anthony Zuiker will write somemore books. And i think the people that are haveing a problem with this series was wanting it to be like the tv show and its not so they were disipoanted. I listened to the books first, i was unbyest. Im sorry others did not like it but i hope he defently writes another book, and that its narrated by Gildart.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked how it kept me guessing, some murder mysteries half way thru the book you know who dunnit but this book had me guessing till the end.
What does Gildart Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Between his sophistication and his english accent he made this book a great listen.
Any additional comments?

Biiiiiiiiiggggg baadabooom!
What did you love best about Whodunnit?: Murder on Mystery Island?
The elaborate murders. I wasn't just someone walking up and shooting someone in the face because their long lost cousin died to food poisoning from a poorly cut puffer fish that the sushi chef cut up, it was something so elaborate and plausible that you felt guilty for wanting to see what the next murder would be like
Who was your favorite character and why?
The butler, because I can picture the Butler from Clue being the one playing this role.
Have you listened to any of Gildart Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, but I'd be willing to check out other books he narrates. I'd go with something a bit of laughter thrown in if he reads such a book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Extreme, no, but guilt. Guilt because I wanted the people to die in a horribly elaborate plausible way, and see how it was all done.
Any additional comments?
As with Mystery Manor, this follows suit. It was entertaining, it kept you coming back for more, but again, I would not listen to it again. I listened to this because I listened to the first book and was entertained. This isn't a book that I NEEDed to listen to like when I listen to the Iron Druid Chronicles, but it was a book that I wanted to listen to because the first book was so good.

Impressed
I didn't know this was the 3rd book, so now I have to listen to the first two. I love mysteries and this was a good one. It kept me guessing who was the murderer and why these people were being murdered. I'm looking forward to the other books.

Fun!
The reason some of us curl up with the dog when it’s dark and thundering outside; the reason some of us dress up as a vampire on Halloween; the reason we memorize lines and rehearse for weeks so that we can scare someone from a stage; the reason some of us buy tickets, to show up, to allow a cast of characters to scare us; to remind us that there is opposition in all things, and most of us actually have it pretty good after all. We are grateful that it’s just a scary story, and we have a responsibility to keep the scary stuff from becoming reality for ourselves and our neighbors. Thank you for another great scary story.

Surprising!
Where does Free: Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
There is no way I can rank this among all the audiobooks I have listened to, there are just too many. What happened to just being able to type my own review rather than being limited to answering questions?
What was one of the most memorable moments of Free: Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island?
The end
Have you listened to any of Gildart Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I listened to the other WhoDunnit, now if we could only find the middle one!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes
