Publisher's summary

Knives Out and Clue meet Agatha Christie and The Thursday Murder Club in this “utterly original” (Jane Harper), “not to be missed” (Karin Slaughter), fiendishly clever blend of classic and modern murder mystery.

“A witty twist on classic whodunits… Stevenson not only 'plays fair,' he plays the mystery game very, very well.”—Maureen Corrigan, Washington Post

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate.

I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Have I killed someone? Yes. I have.

Who was it?

Let’s get started.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

I loved the style of this book and quite enjoyed spending my commute with the narrator day after day. I definitely recommend this audio book and will look for the print version in the library to get a visual connection to the novel as well.

Clever and intricate

You definitely need to pay attention so you don’t miss something, but I’m a sucker for a good closed-room mystery, and I really enjoyed it!

Fun and different

Interesting take on perspective. Ending was a slight let down but fun nevertheless. Well done.

Absolutely wonderful - a well balance of golden age detective fiction & comedy!

I really enjoyed this book and was absolutely floored by the ending. Being that I have a love for mysteries it’s often hard for me not to see the ending coming or the person “who done it”. But this book not only made me laugh as the dysfunctional family dynamics were comedically relatable but kept me guessing through to the end on who the murderer was.

Fun who done it

Fun easy beach listen! Excellent narrator. A perfect who done it for a vacation or car trips.

Interesting…

Not amazing or super clever, but kept my interest for the most part. Way too much monologue. Performance was good, always enjoy Australian narrators.

A must-read, but may be better not on audio

Loved this book. Also loved the narrator chosen. What a snarky asshole (in the best way possible). While I loved the narration, the story would have been better for me to follow, personally, had I cracked open the book myself instead of opting for the audio book. I definitely recommend!

Really funny but lackluster ending

The way it is written got me chuckling the whole time, but man, that ending was far stretched, you would have never guessed. It was a bit all over the place. Very Agatha Christie-esque where the ending is just the protagonist pointing back stories that the readers aren’t aware of.

Good Who Dun-it!

Saw this book on audible and likes the title. I was not disappointed! Without giving anything away, it’s worth the read!
