For some, ghosts are no more than the wounds loved ones leave in their wake, haunting the living only with their absence. Others take a more literal view....
Kate Bennett, presenter of paranormal investigation cable TV show, Where the Dead Walk, isn't sure what she believes, other than she seems cursed to lose all those closest to her.
After investigating a neglected cliff-top house, empty for a decade because it's "haunted", Kate is convinced a spirit within holds the answers to a childhood she can't remember and an unimaginable crime.
What she can't know is that the house's owner, Sebastian Dahl, is searching for something too, and he intends to get it, whatever the cost.

Takes your typical "ghost hunting" story and gives it a few surprising twists and turns. The story is engaging and the performance on the read was great. Overall, if you like the horror, mystery genre, iIthink you will enjoy this story.
unlike so many other stories that feel the need to spoon-feed everything to the reader, this right or trust the reader's intelligence and lets the story truly unfold. excellent narration. it's the first offer I've loved since King and Straub. Well done!
played this every chance I got loved it the plot twisted enough to keep me interested right till the end
"Multiple genre author proves his point"
Yes I would purely because it shows that the nature of the horror mystery isn't dead. It is multi-layered and although a bit long it is still very much enjoyable.
No particular memorable moments, just a well structured book that hung together well.
Her performance was good enough to be unnoticed.
As a horror story I was hoping a number of times to be jumpy or frightened, but it didn't quite come to pass, because it was more of a mystery than a shock type horror, but as I like crime this was a good thing.
Bowen proves that he can successfully write in multiple genres.

Where The Dead Walks is a paranormal investigation cable TV show which Kate Bennett is presenter for and believe it not or she is very skeptical until a investigation at neglected cliff-top house, empty for a decade because it's "haunted", Kate is left convinced a spirit within holds the answers to a childhood she can't remember and an unimaginable crime. Can Harry her co presenter partner help Kate unravel the truth? The story takes a surprising dark turn when Sebastian Dahl the house owner is searching for something to.

To hard to answer without spoilers
Helen Clapp brought the story to life with her excellent narration. She really brought you into the book
This isn't my normal genre and would probably have passed up on the chance to read it. It really would have been my loss. Well worth a listen
"Gripping from the start"
a good supernatural thriller, with characters which were believable.
I didn't have a favourite character, all were as good as each other.
I couldn't stop listening to this book, I walked round the whole day with it playing in the back pocket of my jeans.
Really great book, there are so few good supernatural thrillers out there, this one is well worth reading or listening to. The plot kept me gripped from the start till the very end. The main characters were written well.
"no couldn't get into it. "
the story could have been a lot better. the story felt rushed with very little interesting narration. it felt like she was spead reading in order to get home. nah, will be staying away from anything else she narrates. totally spoilt the story infact I only got half Way through and couldn't bare to listen to her anymore. sorry John Bowen.
