Publisher's summary

An SCU team investigates a string of accidents, only to uncover a deadly and deliberate monster in the latest novel from New York Times best-selling author Kay Hooper.

In Clarity, North Carolina, the residents have fallen victim to an unfortunate series of events. Seemingly random accidents have taken the lives of several citizens in the small mountain town. But these deadly coincidences are anything but. Something is on the hunt in Clarity, and the only clue as to what is a cryptic note given to the victims 24 hours before they meet their ends: "Wait for dark."

Sheriff Mal Gordon knows how to handle his town, but he has no idea how to handle this. Hollis Templeton and her team from the Special Crimes Unit, including her partner and lover, telepath Reese DeMarco, are called in to investigate.

But while the SCU has prepared them for the unknown, the incredible evil stalking Clarity shakes the team to their core when one of their own is targeted. Now Hollis, the "cat with nine lives" finds herself facing death again.

And this time, not even her partner can protect her....

Great follow up to Fear the Dark

Once again Kay Hooper has written another excellent suspense book that uses psychic investigators to solve a mystery that appears to be beyond the norm.
In this book townspeople begin having unusual fatal accidents, the accidents then begin to look like killings but again very unusual. The sheriff (who may be a latent psychic) calls Bishop to send in "special investigators". Some of the investigators are born with their abilities others get them later in life due to traumatic events. So the team leader is fairly new to her abilities and throughout the course of this book she learns just how strong she has become. Very interesting and written in a way that makes you believe this could actually happen.
Joyce Bean does an excellent job narrating this and many of the other Kay Hooper books.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Must like gifted people stories

This author is not for me thank goodness I bought it on sale. I like Joyce bean, she does a great job on narrations. do not miss cry for me by Nora Roberts excellent story.
this story seemed convoluted and did not have redeeming red herring clues that made you pay attention to the story.
I may have missed chapters, but they were not good enough for me to want to go back and re-listen to them. Where are my comments of help?

Amazing as always!

Kay Hooper has an amazing talent! I love her Bishop books! I own them all as books as well as on audio. I have only once been disappointed in an audio version, and that was because I am military so hearing the acronym spelled out vocally as "A S A P" instead of pronounced as the word "Asap" was really grating LoL. I loved the styles of both Bresnahan and Bean for Kay Hooper's books.

So BORING Do not waste your credits or time!

Just a lot of going over and over the same things. Main characters are boring. I was rooting for the killer...

Great if you are new to suspense books like me

Great character development. I had never read a book about gifted characters. So this was all new to me and I loved it. The the narrator has a clever way of telling the story through the thoughts of the various characters. And the story kept me guessing I loved.

Exhausting Dialogue

The mystery itself wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t the focus of the book. The focus of the book was exhausting dialogue about the characters’ abilities, with prolonged, repetitive discussions about how strong and amazing the protagonist was. Resolution to the mystery came quickly, in a way that the reader could not have figured out on his/her own

Wait... still waiting

Boring and repetitive. Main character kept the "poor me card" so often that I forgot what book I was reading. I want my credit back. The last few few books have been flat and boring. Unlikely I'll buy anymore books.

the chase

For as much as I like Kay Hooper, this book didn't seem to get anywhere. It to me, seemed repetative. It did not to use the character's gift as often as some of her other books.
