    "ANOTHER GREAT ANDY CARPENTER BOOK"

I fell in love with this series several years ago and ended up listening to all of the books available in audio format - back to back. However, the best way to really enjoy them is to do one every 6 to 12 months, so you forget why you liked the books so much in the first place! Once again, here we get a great crime mystery and likeable characters, combined with humorous writing and smart dialogue. Narrator Grover Gardner continues to provide the perfect delivery. I sincerely hope that when the two works in this series (currently not available as audiobooks) are recorded, the producers don't ruin the Andy Carpenter magic by changing narrators. Or, even worse - horror of horrors! - allow some "A-List" actor to READ (as opposed to NARRATE) the new books. A sure-fire way to bite this great series of man and mutt in the butt (pun INTENDED)! 😄

"Can't get enough of this series!"
Where does Unleashed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

We listen to a lot of audio books and the Andy Carpenter Series is by far our favorite.

What did you like best about this story?

Each book in the series reveals a little bit more of the "fringe" characters. It was great to learn a little more about Sam in this book. There are alsway enough plot twists to keep you guessing and engaged. You can't help but smile when the whole team get's back together with each new release.

What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can't EVEN imaging another voice reading this series. Grover brings the perfect amount of sarcasm, wit and self deprecation to Andy's character. His voices are consistent across the series from Marcus' grunts to Hike's paranoia. Excellent reader!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is a LAUGH OUT LOUD series! My husband and I listened poolside in Hawaii and when we got up to swim, a couple next to us asked "What are you listening to? You are laughing a lot!" We highly recommend this series to friends and family looking for a funny, entertaining and easy read/listen.

I love everything about this series, the narrator's voice, the author's sense of humor. It is like candy for my ears. I am certain that I will always buy books by this author. I enjoy them immensely.

    "Andy is back again."

I love Andy Carpenter, he is so funny. The story was good, although it is basically the same story as the previous ones and if you have gotten this far in the series, you know what I mean. I will read Andy stories anyway, he is always fun. One thing I don't like is that he does the point of view from way to many characters and then kills them off. Love the narrator, he is Andy.

    "What Ted said ..."

... is right on and he says it so well. This is a thoroughly delightful series. Lots of murders but not much mayhem. Interesting cast of characters as seen through Andy's eyes. And Grover Gardiner IS Andy.

Please read series from the beginning, "Open and Shut". You'll be glad you did.

    "humourous well crafted murder mystery"
What did you love best about Unleashed?

This review holds for all the Andy Carpenter stories. I love them to bits. I literally laugh out loud at some of Andy's comments. He is a very likable character who despite the pretense of only caring about himself, will always put himself out when he finds a friend or deserving person in need. He is both detective and lawyer and so his stories include twists and turns arising from investigations. Andy is brilliant in the courtroom, so despite going into every court case as the underdog, he always comes out on top in the end.

I am not a pet owner or lover, but I love the affection that Andy has for his dog Tara and his Foundation for lost or rescued dogs. There are a number of terrific characters that turn up in each book in the series. The best for me are Marcus, a huge and nearly mute man who acts as security for Andy, and Edna the crossword guru who rarely lifts a finger to do any work around the office.

These books are original, but they have a tiny sprinkle of John Grisham (court room tensions and story twists), a sprinkle of Michael Connelly (well crafted mystery and crime) and liberal sprinkle of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (laugh out loud humour and lovable quirky characters).

What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?

Occasionally audio book performers just read them book out loud. Not Grover Gardner, to me he is Andy Carpenter. He performs the story, put just the right inflections in and reading at just the right pace. He has what I think is a very believable US east coast accent, I love the way he says corwfee (coffee). But I am not American and so I am only guessing that is how they speak in that part of the world.

"A Perfect Marriage of Story and Narrator"

Rarely do I listen to a book or a series of books multiple times. However, Grover Gardner and David Rosenfelt have something special going that should continue for a long time. I have listened to all of the Andy Carpenter books, which is a first for me. I did not read an entire series of books or listen to an entire series of books before in my life, but this series and Grover Gardner's narration bring the characters and the stories to life in such a way that I believe I would know them on the street if I met them - especially Tara.

There is a common problem among many narrators in how to voice the opposite sex. Men have trouble with women characters and women have trouble voicing men without sounding false, or falsetto as the case may be. Grover Gardner just does not seem to have that problem. I can accept his characterizations of both sexes without "a willing suspension of disbelief" so necessary with other narrators.

David Rosenfelt's character of Andy Carpenter is one I particularly enjoy because he does not take himself too seriously, and that's okay with him. He is not a dilettante, or an attorney who is out to save the world. He is just a good lawyer doing a good job for his clients with the help of some very special assistants. Andy is the kind of lawyer I would like to be if I were a criminal defense attorney instead of a civil attorney. I can identify with his view of judges, however, because I have done a few of Andy's antics in my own court appearances with the same disdain that Andy experiences.

And one of these days I have GOT to meet Marcus Clark. The description of him is not how I would have envisioned Marcus, but that's okay because he is one of my very favorite characters. I look forward to more Andy Carpenter books with great anticipation, especially if Grover Gardner continues to bring them to life.

    "Great Book"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend especially if they love dogs. The dogs are not the central part of the book but add to the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I did not expect the story to take the turn it did. Very interesting.

    Which scene was your favorite?

To hard to choose just one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Another Golden saves a life.
