Publisher's summary

A Southern doctor is pulled into a terrifying ring of murderous secrets in this “engrossing...full-tilt thriller” (The Washington Post) from the New York Times bestselling author of the Natchez Burning trilogy and the Penn Cage series.

Dr. Chris Shepard has never seen his new patient before. But the attractive young woman with the scarred face knows him all too well. An FBI agent working undercover, Alex Morse has come to Dr. Shepard’s office in Natchez, Mississippi, to unmask a killer. A local divorce attorney has a cluster of clients whose spouses have all died under mysterious circumstances. Agent Morse’s own brother-in-law was one of those clients, and now her beloved sister is dead. Then comes Morse's bombshell: Dr. Shepard’s own beautiful wife consulted this lawyer one week ago, a visit Shepard knew nothing about. Will he help Alex Morse catch a killer? Or is he the next one to fall victim to a deadly trap of sex, lies, and murder?

Brimming with the masterful suspense and intense psychological drama that made Turning Angel, Blood Memory, and The Quiet Game bestsellers, True Evil is an unnerving tale of evil lurking beneath the veneer of idyllic suburban life.

True Evil

A wonderful listen. Kept me enthralled and entertained. Anyone who likes a gritty "who is doing it" will love this book.

Best narrator ever.

Story is good, and Dick Hill (may he rest in peace) was the best narrator ever. We really miss him reading the new Jack Reacher novels. Those giving him a bad review probably haven’t heard many audio books or they would realize just how talented he was!!

Reader spoils the story

I read most of Greg Iles books but not sure I will be able to finish this because of the reader

Excellent suspense thriller!

True Evil is an appropriate title for this excellent suspense thriller. The publisher's summary really tells to much about the plot so I will not add to it. This novel is not part of the Penn Cage series, but both Penn and his dad Dr. Tom Cage make brief appearances. Dick Hill's narration is superb.

A reminder: the 6th novel in the Pend Cage series (title Mississippi Blood) will be released in approximately 24 hours.

Horrible narration

I am in the middle of the book and every second seems like torture narrated by Dick Hill. He has this weird way of pronouncing words that seems out of this world. I don't know if he is trying to capture an accent or being irritating.

I stopped listening to many series because of Dick Hill's narration and here he is again. Should have paid more attention to who the narrator was before buying this one. The story is not bad if I can get to the end of it.

Good story; narration fair

While I enjoyed the suspense of the story, I found I really disliked the narration. The narrator’s voice dropped at the end of many sentences so I couldn’t hear the last bit. Also, the voices of some of the characters were annoying to me. I appreciate good narration and this one was disappointing.

Good book, awful narration

For God's Sake - if you are going to narrate a book, ask someone how to pronounce the name of the town!!

I live in Mississippi, work at the very medical center (UMC) that is the setting of this book. The writing is good, the book is good, but the narrator misses the mark completely. He mispronounces every city name, but repeatedly butchers Natchez. Considering the author is from Natchez, this is a cardinal sin.

Also, he over-sells, and overly dramatizes every conversation to the point of absurdity. Think of the over-acting in pathetic soap operas. Same thing. Its so freakin annoying that it ruins the book.
