Publisher's summary

From Atlanta's wealthiest suburbs to its stark inner-city housing projects, a killer has crossed the boundaries of wealth and race. And the people who are chasing him must cross those boundaries, too. Among them is Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose marriage is hanging by a thread and whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career. And Angie Polaski, a beautiful vice cop who was once Michael's lover before she became his enemy. But unbeknownst to both of them, another player has entered the game: a loser ex-con who has stumbled upon the killer's trail in the most coincidental of ways and who may be the key to breaking the case wide open.

In this gritty, gripping firecracker of a novel, the author of the best-selling Grant County, Georgia, series breaks thrilling new ground, weaving together the threads of a complex, multilayered story with the skill of a master craftsman. Packed with body-bending switchbacks, searing psychological suspense and human emotions, Triptych ratchets up the tension one revelation at a time as it races to a shattering and unforgettable climax.

Amazing on all fronts! Couldn’t put it down

Download it! Narrator was fantastic! Storyline was brutal but engaging. I have practiced criminal law for over 20 years and I rarely download criminal mysteries. I get enough of that on a daily basis, but Karen Slaughter is brilliant. And this narrator is fantastic! I can only say I’m sorry I finished it already.

Awesome listen

Awesome listen. I recommend this to Karen Slaughter listeners. I recently became a fan of her writing after watching an episode of the Will Trent TV series.

LOVED IT

great story, wonderful Narration, It’s wasn’t one of theirs wondering who did it the whole time but more like wondering how exactly there going to get the guy. I loved how back and forth this story was along with every plot point still keeping my jaw to the floor, great series, I’m on book 2 now

Good.

Gratuitous use of the words “hooker” and “prostitute”. Excessive painting of sex workers as unclean, vagrant, drug addicted holes in heels. We get it. Heard you loud and clear. You didn’t have to go on and on and on and on and on about it. Stereotyping of almost every minority group- mean, old, black, mammy, grandma with her drug addicted, incarcerated daughter, taking care of two “tough” black kids in the projects. That’s from basically any movie 1990s through late 70s. There are a lot more. It felt slimy to read.

Also, Will is physically/psychologically damaged and has a chihuahua with a pink leash. Yes. Got it. Okay. Ope, and now you’re telling me again… and again… and again… and again… and again… and…

The beginning was a little confusing with all the introductions of the many, many characters at many different points of time, their different aliases and how each character’s different alias overlapped with another person’s alias.

But the actual bulk of the content was good. I really enjoyed most of it. It was never a mystery, per se, but had surprises at various turns. It was interesting to see in the early part of the book how the two story lines came together. The middle spent a veeeerrrryyyy long time developing the end and then the end was… appropriate. Not twisty or exciting. Just the end.

Good story, AWFUL southern accents

EXCELLENT, very well written story. I really hate to shade it with any negativity, but the narrator's only exposure to any southern accents is clearly and ONLY Gone with the Wind. As a southern girl, I HAAAAATE horrible efforts at southern accents. I would otherwise be really excited to continue on with this series. I am excited for the stories, but this is going to be tough.

All of the details.

I loved the details of all the characters. But not to the point where you felt like it was over done. I loved it.

I finished the story too quickly

I started reading a Karen Slaughter book, randomly, last year. The book was from the middle of the Will Trent series and I loved it…especially when I discovered it was part of a series. Ever since I’ve been trying to find other books in the series and have enjoyed going back in time learning about the histories of characters I’ve come to love. This book was no exception.
