Twelve-year-old Josy has an inexplicable illness. She vanishes without a trace from her doctor's office during treatment. Four years later Josy's father, psychiatrist Viktor Larenz, has withdrawn himself to an isolated North Sea island in order to deal with the tragedy.
Then he's paid a surprise visit by a beautiful stranger. Anna Glass is a novelist who suffers from an unusual form of schizophrenia: All the characters she creates for her books become real to her. In her last novel she has written about a young girl with an unknown illness who has disappeared without a trace.
Where is his daughter?
Can Anna's delusions describe Josy's last days? Reluctantly Viktor agrees to take on her therapy in a final attempt to uncover the truth behind his daughter's disappearance. But very soon these sessions take a dramatic turn as the past is dragged back into the light - with terrifying consequences.

The way the story carried out.
The atmosphere, the emotions.
Worth reading/listening. But not as good as the Eye Collector.
"Hard to stop listening once you start!"
Cleverly written with dark twists around every corner, this story had me gripped right from the beginning.
There are clues throughout the book pointing to the truth about Anna Glass and the disappearance of young Josy but even so, I was wonderfully surprised when all was finally revealed. A very good build up.
This is one of the best psychological thrillers I have read/listened to in a very long time. I simply couldn't stop listening once I started. The narrator does a brilliant job.
I look forward to more thrillers written by this Author.
"You have to listen to this book"
Absolutely gripping! I couldn't stop listening,I thought I got it right until the final 5 minutes . Brilliant
Lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing all the way through. Even the ending which I thought I had summed up gave a surprise. Well worth a read. Enjoyed the narrator.
This book was amazing! Had me on the eve of my seat all the way through. It was intense and extremely gripping
If you enjoy reading stories leading you in one direction while pulling another toward you, then this is one you should pick up.
Through the wisps of uncertainty, surrounded by a fog of sadness and despair making you feel for the father. Thrilling turns to keep you wondering how it goes... really.
"Griping but confusing"
The book was good, took a while to get into but it's very gripping once it gets going. Personally I didn't like he ending, too confusing and quite frankly a bit rubbish. To some up ...not the best book but not the worst either!
"Gripping non stop listening"

"Couldn't stop listening!"
I was gripped by this book from the beginning. It twisted and turned all the way through. I loved it.
"Great story read well"
Loved it, listened every night, read really well and good storyline, I enjoyed it lots
"Clever story, compulsive listening"
Excellently narrated, the story held my attention right to the very end. My only (slight) complaint is that story is a little dragged out, but having said that, I enjoyed it and was impressed by the intrigue. Clues along the way do not give away the ending, and I recommend this as a good listen.
