Publisher's summary

FBI Agent Pendergast has taken Constance on a whirlwind Grand Tour, hoping to give her closure and a sense of the world that she's missed. They head to Tibet, where Pendergast intensively trained in martial arts and spiritual studies. At a remote monastery, they learn that a rare and dangerous artifact the monks have been guarding for generations has been mysteriously stolen. Pendergast agrees to take up the search.

The trail leads him and Constance to the maiden voyage of the Queen Victoria, the world's largest and most luxurious passenger liner - and to an Atlantic crossing fraught with terror.

Investigate more of Agent Pendergast's cases.

possibly the best of the Pendergast series.

I love the character Pendergast, especially when he loses his mind for a while. This story is very well conceived and written, and the narration is the best.

Good listen

I am not crazy about the music that plays randomly. Aside from that I would reccomend.

Why would they hire this guy

Absolute worst choice for and audio reader I can think of. What happened to Scott brick?
This guy sucks. It literally hurts my ears

Great thrill ride

Honestly I hate how they describe women, the elderly and fat people...shallow, degrading, objectifying, body shaming or out dated tropes....but the story as always is good and this one didn't disappoint so I put up with it.

The reader couldn't quite get down Pendergast's accent or another character's Boston accent, but it was good overall.

Great book, different narrator

I have listen to all the previous books in the Pendergast series and have loved the storylines, the characters and the narrator. This book has another great story that I enjoyed. Just as a lot of other reviewers have stated, I was thrown off a bit with the change to a narrator that was different from the previous books. I do prefer and miss Scott brick and his character voices, particularly Pendergast’s
southern sweet drawl, but this narrator did do a great job. I am looking forward to the next book.

where is scott brick?

The story is great, but Scott Brick did so much better reading the last 2 books. This one feels like it isn't a part fo the same story.

Narrator isn't the best.

Love the book series but this narrator Rene' doesn't do it justice like Scott Brinks does. The accents aren't there and all the characters sound the same.

Like series, but not this one. Skip it.

I like this series, and have listened to many of them. They are basic crime stories with Agent Pendergast solving the crime aka Sherlock Holmes style. This book was outside the typical in that it had a supernatural aspect which was okay. The basic problem of the book is that it takes place on a cruise ship (largest in World), where the entire ship is hijacked by one person. No one is able to stop ship as it heads for almost certain destruction. One person, a ship with 3000 passengers and they can't stop a ship? Sorry a ship runs on fuel, just turn off the fuel line. The supernatural aspect comes into play ( I won't give it away) to resolve the problem. I know it is just a novel, but I can only suspend so much belief.
