Publisher's summary

Tensions are rising in the Middle East. Iran’s president vows to annihilate the United States and Israel. Israel’s prime minister says someone must hit Iran’s nuclear sites “before it’s too late”. The American president warns against a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities and says negotiations are the key to finding peace.

And amid it all, rumors are swirling throughout the region of a mysterious religious cleric claiming to be the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam. Word of his miracles, healings, signs, and wonders is spreading like wildfire.

CIA operative David Shirazi was born for this moment. He is recruited and sent into Tehran with one objective: use all means necessary to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, without leaving American fingerprints and without triggering an apocalyptic new war.

But time is running out.

Great story abs performance.

I love Joel Rosenberg, and this story doesn't disappoint. It's a great action adventure with realistic middle east prognostication - in this case Iran. My only complaint is that it ended too abruptly.

This could soon be more fact than fiction

If you could sum up The Twelfth Imam in three words, what would they be?

Rosenberg really sucked me in on this one....had trouble getting anything done because I had to listen to this book. This could easily be occurring right now. I can't imagine what we will do if something like this happens with Obama in charge.

After finishing I immediately downloaded The Tehran Initiative. Hope it is just as captivating.

Good book

It stops quickly, but it is a series and I expected it to end this way. Other books are like this too.

First immersion reading...first audio ever.

Would you listen to The Twelfth Imam again? Why?

So many books, so little time. Doubt that I will but not for lack of enjoying it.

What does Christopher Lane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The pronunciation of names and places unfamiliar, the dialect...makes everything so real

Any additional comments?

I have a problem reading... my mind is a busy place and frequently wanders. The immersion experience kept me focused and was more like watching a film, but better.

Would you listen to The Twelfth Imam again? Why?

*

This was a really intense and intriguing book. You have to follow very closely. If you let your mind wander AT ALL you will miss vital details to the story.

There is a lot of talk about Islam versus Christianity. America, Israel & Iran how ... the beginning and underlying story is a young boy, David and young girl, Marseilles whose families escaped Iran. The children are innocent, until the young boy, David, is told that he needs to be an agent, or is it double agent, for the USA. The young girl is out of the picture except for flashbacks from David.

He is raised as a Muslim but this is where I become confused. I don't know if his knowledge of Christianity came to him through dreams or real people at the right time.

I will give it a re-listen and probably continue with this series as it is very intriguing.

The narrator is great and professional.

Notes: Some strong language, violence

Credit worthy/$: Yes! I received this for less than $5 during an Audible in a First in the Series Promotion. But I can see myself using the credit for the next book and the entire series.

A bit too much religeon

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a good story and educational. The theme of religious-based conquest was an education as he delved into the mind, culture, and beliefs of the ever-volatile Muslim faithful.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Predictable happy ending. That doesn't make it bad...

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

As intrigued as I was about learning religion, it became a bit much at times and tied down the flow of the story from a listening standpoint.

Could you see The Twelfth Imam being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe a movie. It would be controversial for sure because of the interpretation of religion and it's effect on the world masses.

Any additional comments?

The story itself could be pulled right from tomorrow's headlines. But, from a listener's standpoint, the heavy mix of religion does slow down the story at times. It's not one of the books I'll pick up again for a redo down the road.
