Publisher's summary

Tensions are rising in the Middle East. Iran’s president vows to annihilate the United States and Israel. Israel’s prime minister says someone must hit Iran’s nuclear sites “before it’s too late”. The American president warns against a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities and says negotiations are the key to finding peace.

And amid it all, rumors are swirling throughout the region of a mysterious religious cleric claiming to be the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam. Word of his miracles, healings, signs, and wonders is spreading like wildfire.

CIA operative David Shirazi was born for this moment. He is recruited and sent into Tehran with one objective: use all means necessary to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, without leaving American fingerprints and without triggering an apocalyptic new war.

But time is running out.

Joel C. Rosenberg hits a home run with The Twelfth Imam

This book captivated me from the very beginning and never let me go. I especially enjoyed hearing the Word of God in the book as it pertains to similar events happening in the world today. Thank you for writing this into your book. Its relevance never ceases to amaze me.
Christopher Lane did an excellent job reading the book. His characterizations of subjects were believable and each recognizable.
I will recommend this book to all my friends.

What Will the Future Bring?

What made the experience of listening to The Twelfth Imam the most enjoyable?

Christopher Lane does an amazing job narrating this story by his use of inflection and the various accents for each character. Of course it is hard to sound like a female when you are male but still very nice characterization. I really loved him as a narrater!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Twelfth Imam?

For me it was the anticipation that would build when moving between each character's separate story. As well as the revelations that would come to the characters as they discovered the truth about these threatening events taking place around them.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when the young scientist was visited by Jesus and He saved his life and the lives of His family leading them to meet David (the main character). It was really a thrilling moment, a Saul on the way to Damascus type event.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I couldn't stop listening to this book. It was really one that kept you on pins and needles.

Any additional comments?

I like that there is a bit of a love story in this as well being that I am a woman. It humanizes the super genius David in a tender way that keeps you cheering him on even when you don't know what choices he will make next.

Inspirational

This was a great interpretation of the possible catastrophic effects of fervent religious belief. It is amazing to what lengths some believers will go to bring their beliefs to fruition.

Excellent Christian Literature

Excellent combination of outstanding spy thriller and Christian fundamentalist literature. Uniquely well researched but biased against Islam. Common error of failing to translate Allah to God creates misperception that these are two different figures instead of two different interpretations of the same figure. Citations from the Christian Bible but not from the Quran another example.

well done

A good and timely read given current events. More character development might have earned an extra star. There is a clear good and evil that I wish he would have blurred a bit more by going more into the motivations of the 'bad guys.'
