    "Great begining"

I listened to all the Shane Scully books except the fisrt two, Tin Collectors and Viking Funeral; I am now going back to the begining. Even after knowing where things go, this is a great book. If you never have listen to a Shane Scully book, Start now and with this one!

    "Laughable and Predictable"

In agreement with another reviewer, the narration of this story was stiff compared to other narrators. It takes a lot of patience to finish this story. However, the material was only of average quality. While a trite premise and familar story about a cop, a prostitue, an angry teen-ager, and a slew of bad cops the story had potential. The use of initials or acronyms was ridiculously over-done. I suppose the author wanted to impress the listener/reader with his knowledge of police lingo. He under-estimated the intellect of the reader as this technique distracted from the credibility or realism (although this is fiction) of the story. The main character did an exceptional job of tempering his zeal for an old flame and using sometimes, common sense. It is unclear at the end of the story, what happened to the old flame. It was difficult to like any of the characters or care what happened to them. This story is a good one to listen to when doing yard work or house work.

    "I'm hooked on Shane Scully!"
Where does The Tin Collectors rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 20....thought it was great start to the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Tin Collectors?

The letter to Chooch! Listen and you will see why!

Have you listened to any of Robert Lawrence’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    I enjoyed his narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Again, the letter to Chooch...teared up a little.

    Any additional comments?

I will continue on....Shane is such a funny, likable guy, I look forward to what the future holds for him.

    "Awful narration"

The story itself was reasonably good and was the only reason I continued to listen to the stilted and boring narration. The narrator often sounded like a 3rd grade student reading outloud from a text book...just not the right thing for this genre.

"Really enjoyed this action packed book"

This is the first book I have ever read/listened to by this author. I really enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the reader because he used different voices for the characters.

    "No way out."

Never a dull moment. Action and suspense. Lots of twists and turns. Good angles and no problem keeping up. Can't put it down till it's over.

    "Good read"
What made the experience of listening to The Tin Collectors the most enjoyable?

This book flows a lot like the Harry Bosh books from Michael Connelly. The story keeps you guessing what's next.

"How many stereotypes can you put in one book?"

Apparently the answer is a LOT. Both predictable and boring is not a good combination for a cop story - - and this is both. I am reminded of why it takes a really superior writer to make a conspiracy plausible. Unfortunately, this book is short one superior writer. I also kept looking at the narration - - the voice is so deep it sounds like you must be listening to the wrong speed. Can't recommend this one.

"Soooooo many characters to keep track of!"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, no regrets on the time I spent listening to this book. It moves right along and it did keep my interest.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending made me want to check Audible for the next book in the series.

Did Robert Lawrence do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Narrator did a fine job on the narration and different voices.

Was The Tin Collectors worth the listening time?

Yes, this book was worth it and I will get the next one in the series, however if the second book has as many characters in it as this one did, I will probably not continue listening to the series. The plot in this one was good until trying to keep the characters, names, ranks etc straight, got to be a bit much.
