Critic reviews

"The pace is frenetic, the fear and paranoia palpable, and the characters heartbreakingly honest. Iles strikes not one false note.” (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

“Would make James Lee Burke or even Pat Conroy proud. This is storytelling at its absolute best, a tale of near-epic status.” (Providence Sunday Journal)

“A superb legal-conspiracy thriller that brings the deep South to life…an enthralling tale.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Murder mystery and love story

This was one of the best stories I have read and will continue to read G Isles into the future!
Murder mystery law racism and love as well as historical references in 1968 to the FBI and Hoover politics
Worth the time!! Couldn’t put it down

No John Grisham

I’m a Hugh fan of Grisham so it was hard to lock onto this as a courtroom drama but overall it was good. Would I listen to it again? No. Will I listen to more of his books? Maybe but they will have to be 5 stars.

Another good series to read.

Pen Cage, attorney turned author, goes home to Mississippi to re-group his life after the death of his wife. He finds himself called to solve a 30-year-old murder case. In 1968, a black man was killed in a bomb explosion. The death was ruled an accident but most people believe he was murdered.
Leo Marsden is the big man in town; a judge, rich, influential and controlling. He also made Pen's father's life miserable through blackmail and extortion.
This is a very good book with lots of twists and intrigue. I will read more of this series.

Engaging & Sexy

Intriguing story, perhaps a bit far fetched, but fun to follow. Many characters VERY good or VERY bad. Only a few who struggle with both angels & demons. Isn't afraid to "go there" in the bedroom without being vulgar. I'm ready to get the next Penn Gage book.

Great Performance

Tom Stechschulte's performance made this book for me. The story was very compelling and I kept finding excuses to keep listening. I've started the next Penn Cage book in the series 'Turning Angel', and I am WISHING for Tom again...enjoy this book!

Great listen.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Quiet Game to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

Kept me interested!

What about Tom Stechschulte’s performance did you like?

Easy to follow and listen to. He did great!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Sure, but far too long. I'd be in big trouble if I did that!

Awesome!

I really enjoyed this book! Great plot, characters, twists, dialogue, and narration too. Right after I enter this, I'm looking to see if this guy has written anything else.

Good story but a bit to many twists and additional story lines added in along the way for one book

The beginning set up if the characters and story we’re well done. There seemed to be to many different variations and additional character resist to far in to the established existing story.
Would have preferred to stay with the base story complete that, then start a new book. There seemed to be enough material to make up two boos and conclusions
