Publisher's summary

1964: Justice, Mississippi, is a town divided. When attorney Coop Lindsay agrees to defend a Black man accused of murdering a White teenager, the bribes and death threats don't intimidate him. As he prepares for the case of a lifetime, the young lawyer knows that innocent or guilty, he will no longer welcome in Justice.

2014: To some, the result of the trial still feels like a fresh wound even 50 years later, when Coop's grandson arrives in Justice seeking answers to the questions unresolved by the trial that changed his family's legacy. When a new case is presented, again pitting White against Black, this third generation Lindsay may have the opportunity he needs to right the wrongs of the past.

I didn't want it to end!

I hope this author writes more like this. I love legal thrillers and this one is the best I've read! The storyline was beyond imaginative, it was awe-inspiring!

Well Worth the Read

This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time that deals with racism, greed, hatred, misplaced hatred, honor, humility, courage and how scripture can be misinterpreted. It gives a glimpse into our justice system in the rural south during mass segregation and the irony of change over the decades. I shows how secrets will eventually be told and though you may not see justice in your lifetime, it could simply mean justice delayed. Great audible!

Awful

I can't believe I listened to this book until the end. Unbelievable story, horrible narration, and stupid court trial.

Extremely boring and very confusing at the end...

This book was too boring to care. The narration was awful. The narrator's womens voices were laughable. Not a realistic story at all, when someone kidnaps Coop's wife he's like "eh" and keeps working?? How stupid. I kept listening hoping it gets better but to no avail. Ugh.
