Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Nelson DeMille returns with another heart-pounding John Corey thriller—this time including Corey’s FBI agent wife Kate Mayfield...and their mission is to catch an elusive terrorist mastermind before he catches them.

Anti-terrorist Task Force agent John Corey and his wife, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, have been posted overseas to Sana'a, Yemen—one of the most dangerous places in the Middle East. While there, they will be working with a small team to track down one of the masterminds behind the USS Cole bombing: A high-ranking Al Qaeda operative known as The Panther. Ruthless and elusive, he's wanted for multiple terrorist acts and murders—and the US Government is determined to bring him down, no matter the cost. As latecomers to a deadly game, John and Kate don't know the rules, the players, or the score. What they do know is that there is more to their assignment than meets the eye—and that the hunters are about to become the hunted.

Filled with breathtaking plot turns and told in John Corey's inimitable voice, The Panther is a brilliant depiction of one of the most treacherous countries in the world and raises disturbing questions about whether we can ever know who our enemies—or our allies—really are.

A nice story

For a John Corey story it is not the best nor is it the worst, middle of the road corey story. The story is good and Corey is as sarcastic which keeps it entertaining. The book takes off towards the end with a very good ending. Yes its worth buying, just dont set your bar too high (night fall) and you will enjoy it and be fine . As for Scott Brick, he is the best each and every time.

Another DeMille hit

Held my interest all the way through, but maybe a little too much like "The Lion."

Good idea, just needed a little better ending

Where does The Panther rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

First one

What did you like best about this story?

Plot was good but something was different about how it ended the final scenes, almost to easy, to controlled, I've read almost everything Mr. DeMille has written, and up to the final scenes it was good. Lion was better sorry Mr. Demille

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It was nice to hear as opposed to reading it, as this was my first I have nothing to compare it to. But I did enjoy it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No to long, maybe if I had more time did it in 3 days

Another winner by DeMille

Would you listen to The Panther again? Why?

If your a fan of previous John Corey stories you will love this, he teams up with Paul Brenner from the Generals Daughter and Up Country. What a great way to get a two for one with two characters I like.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Scott Brick is my favorite narrator by far!

Another Great One from DeMille

Where does The Panther rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best.

What did you like best about this story?

John Corey and his humor. I can see Kate Mayfield rolling her eyes after some of his off the wall comments.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Scott Brick has great ability to alter his voice, however, he tries to put too much drama into his voice during normal presentation of conversations. Irritating.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Anxious during some of the battle scenes.

DeMille and Brick are a winning team!

What made the experience of listening to The Panther the most enjoyable?

Scott Brick is my very favorite narrator for this kind of story. He really holds your attention and is never boring.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was very good. As others have suggested, however, John Corey's wisecracks did get a bit old. At first I really didn't notice it but as the story went on his cracks got a bit tiresome without really adding anything to the story. That said, still a great book.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As mentioned above: Scott Brick is my very favorite narrator for this kind of story. He really holds your attention and is never boring.
