Publisher's summary

To save the lives of her friends, Rachel did the unthinkable: she willingly trafficked in forbidden demon magic. And now her sins are coming home to haunt her.

As Rachel searches for the truth behind a terrifying murder, an even greater menace threatens, for the demon Algaliarept will stop at nothing to claim her, and the discovery of a shocking family secret throws Rachel's entire life into question. If she is ever to live free, Rachel must first walk willingly into the demonic ever-after in search of long-lost ancient knowledge.

But when you dance with demons, you lay your soul on the line...and there are some lines that should never be crossed.

New narrator

What made the experience of listening to The Outlaw Demon Wails the most enjoyable?

The story

What didn’t you like about Gigi Bermingham’s performance?

It would be truly pleasant if new narrators would listen to at least one of the books in the series before recording their version. It was difficult to get through this book with the main character names being pronounced differently.

Changed reader

In book 6 they changed the reader. It’s not s great fit. Her style is not right for these books. If nothing else continuity with the same reader would have been better. It sounds more like it’s being read by a teacher than someone playing a part. Also I think the voice of the reader is too mature for the main character and too high for the males. Love the books. Love Kim Harrison’s writhing. Disappointed with this choice of performers for these books. Especially for the price over $20 for an older book. I probably will not buy any more of these on audible.

Why of why did you do that??

what happened to the old narrator? did not like this one at all! the story is great but the difference now is jarring and I feel like I'm listening to an entirely different character. Her voice is much too high and shrill. and her Jenks gives me depression 😭

I want my money back!!!

AWFUL. I thought people were exaggerating, THEY WERE NOT! I stopped listening after the first chapter, and just ordered the book. The narration is really bad. She takes away from the entire experience.

Narrator fumbled

I was really disappointed in the narrator. First off if a series of books is being read by one narrator why switch mid series. If you jump into a series as a narrator it would be great if you could pronounce the names and words correctly or matching the previous narrator. WTH was with the voice for Jenks?! Very distracting snd hard to listen to. If you aren’t invested in the series skip this one.

Great story, disappointed in change in narrator

Great story, but very disappointed they changed the narrator. It changes the personalities of the characters that Gavin previously established with her own unique voices and narration. And it at least would have helped if Bermingham listened to a previous book so she could’ve tried to match the voices more and known how to pronounce common words throughout the book. About mid-way through the book, I got more used to Bermingham but I’m ecstatic that Gavin will be back narrating the next book and hopefully the rest of the series. I also hated the random music they threw in this audiobook that none of the others had. But I can’t wait to see what’s next in store in this story!!

Somewhat disappointed

I have read and listened to this series more than twice and I would love to hear it read by Margaret Gavin.. This narrator changed to many key annunciations of words and It took away from the telling.
