Narration and story

Kim Harrison did a wonderful job with this series. Bringing together so many different characters and having them evolve the way they did was fantastic. For this particular book, I'm not fond of the narrator. For some reason the narrator switched for this book only and I was not impressed by her performance. I'm sure she does well when there aren't too many different characters to voice but this particular series requires a range in voices.

Loved the story

loved the story, not a fan of the narrator. Luckily the next book is back to the "regular" narrator.

Gigi doesn't do the story justice

If you could sum up The Outlaw Demon Wails in three words, what would they be?

Tink's a Disney whore!

How could the performance have been better?

It's like going to the play, only to find the actor that you expected being replaced by the understudy. While it's the same play material, it's NOT the same play without the main actor.

Hard to listen to the end, but for good reaaon

With all due respect to Gigi, it is hard to walk into a much loved series and take over where another well accepted reader was unavailable, for whatever reason. I admit that there were times when I thought I would have to order the electronic version of this volume. I'm rather forgiving but this recorded version should have been put on hold until the original reader could resume.

It would also have made it better had she listened to the pronunciation of the names and accents previously used. At times she was practically shrill and at others she shredded the accents. Now, that said, Gigi is very capable and with the right book, she would be great but with this many accents and replacing a popular reader, poor Gigi was set up to fail and fail she did.

It was a good book. I suggest you buy a printed version and continue the series.

Different from others in the series

I missed Marguerite Gavin's rendition. I eventually became accustomed to Gigi's. I did not like the little musical interludes. They were distracting.

Pronunciation sucks Gigi!!!!

Where does The Outlaw Demon Wails rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Love, love, love this series!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gigi Bermingham?

Marguerite Gavin

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Was kinda difficult to be moved when the narrator didn't pronounce certain names and words correctly.

Another great book in the Hollow series

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

As usual the book kept me on the edge of my seat. The main character, Rachel Morgan, attracts danger that keeps the reader wondering what could possibly happen next.

Would you be willing to try another one of Gigi Bermingham’s performances?

The narrator’s performance was absolutely horrible. You think they could have some respect for the reader by at least listening to the previous books in the series in order to gain a feel for the characters and how to pronounce their names. The miss pronunciation of Piscary as Piss Curry made me cringe every time I heard it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Overall, the story was as awesome as all have been in the series. This would have been my favorite so far had the narration not been so poor.

I love the hollow series. I've read all the books

I have read all the books from the hollow series. loved it so much I decided invest in the audio books. this is the first one that I noticed some inconsistencies or blemish in the recording. Admittedly, I don't care for this voice reader. The lady who does all the other hollow series books nails it, her voices are good with well done accents, and her pronunciations of names are as I read and used them. I found it more difficult to follow not being sure of who exactly she was talking about until something that clicked was mentioned.

I’m sorry but. .

Did this narrator not listen to any of Marguerite Gavin’s narrations of the previous books? I mean come on. The story was wonderful but I found myself rolling my eyes at how the characters were being read. Also found myself yelling out load the correct pronunciation of some of the characters names. Cringe level 10000
