These are the questions that haunt FBI Special Agent Pierce Quincy. The official police report concluded that his daughter's death was an accident. Amanda Quincy was driving drunk when her car careened out of control. Pierce knew about his daughter's problem with alcohol. He knew about her loneliness and insecurity. And so, he is certain, did the man who killed her. Quincy is prepared to risk everything to learn the dangerous truth about Amanda's death - and there's only one person willing to help.
Rainie Conner knows all too well the dark side of the human heart. An ex-cop haunted by her own violent past, she had once been paired professionally - and personally - with the brilliant, supremely logical FBI profiler. Quincy had helped Rainie through the harrowing case that shattered her career and left her charged with first-degree murder. Now it's time for Rainie to return the favor.
But this killer is like none these two hard-boiled pros have ever encountered. This twisted psychopath has an insatiable hunger for revenge...and for fear. He isn't satisfied with taking his victims' lives. He wants to get inside their minds, strip them of every defense, render them powerless to resist. He's already killed twice; how he's taunting Quincy and Rainie by making it no secret who his next victim will be: Quincy's only surviving daughter. The killer's plan is chilling, brilliant, and unstoppable. The cops won't help; the FBI can't be trusted. As the clock ticks down to the final minutes of one unspeakably intimate act of vengeance, the only way Rainie can unmask this faceless killer is to step directly into his murderous path. She will become a murder waiting to happen. She will be...the next accident.

Please provide both. I understand some people enjoy abridged books, but please give us a choice.
This is a solid book and a solid performance but my issue lies in wondering who actually narrated and whether or not this is an abridged edition. Audible lists The Next Accident as abridged and performed by Kate Burton (a favorite of mine who read Intensity) but the book is nearly 11 hours long with chapter breaks. I could not tell that it was abridged nor did it say that it was abridged or unabridged. What I do know for sure is that Kate Burton is not the reader; the reader is Anna Fields, who does read the unabridged CD version of the book. The narrator says that the book was read by Anna Fields at the end and I compared the voice with the next book in the series, which is read by Fields, and the voice is the same. I will try and bring this to Audible's; it was not bothersome to me in this particular incident but I think listeners should know what they are paying for.
I love this whole series....great characters, great story, very captivating! on to the next book!
I have listened to the book 3 times already and have loved it every time. Each time I find another level of the story and enjoy it even more.
I loved the way the story plot twisted and turned so that you were on the edge of your seat. I also loved the character development and interraction.
I've not listened to any other Kate Burton's performances before but will look for them in the future.
I thought the scenes when the main chacter realized that his family and loved ones were the ultimate target of the murderer were especially poignant.
This book and presentation is extremely well done. I would recomment it to anyone.
This book has you hooked in the first five minutes! Keeps moving and is full of suspense! LOVED THIS BOOK! Great addition to the series!!!
Very badly edited. Kate Burton is a great voice but the editor really failed.
The story isn't anything special. Gratuatious gruesome.
