Publisher's summary

In his 17 consecutive best selling novels, Jonathan Kellerman has distinguished himself as the master of the psychological thriller. Now, in Kellerman's most compelling and powerful novel yet, LA psychologist-detective Alex Delaware confronts a long-unsolved murder of unspeakable brutality - an ice-cold case whose resolution threatens his survival and that of longtime friend, homicide detective Milo Sturgis.

The nightmare begins when Alex receives a strange package in the mail with no return address. Inside is an ornate album filled with gruesome crime-scene photos - a homicide scrapbook entitled The Murder Book. Alex can find no reason for anyone to send him this compendium of death, but when Milo views the book, he is immediately shaken by one of the images: a young woman, tortured, strangled, and dumped near a freeway ramp.

This was one of Milo's first cases as a rookie homicide cop: a vicious killing that he and his partner failed to solve because the department closed them down. Being forced to abandon the young victim tormented Milo. But his fears prevented him from pursuing the truth, and over the years he managed to forget.

Now someone has chosen to stir up the past. As Alex and Milo set out to uncover what really happened twenty years ago, their every move is being followed, and their lives are placed in jeopardy. While peeling back layer after layer of ugly secrets, they discover that the murder of one forgotten girl has chilling ramifications that extend far beyond the tragic loss of a single life.

CANNOT TELL WHO IS SPEAKING.

Made following story difficult. Especially with not listening straight through. All males sounded like Milo.

perfect as usual

Very enthralling. Makes my drive easier and you can't ask for more than that! Great narrator, gives the main character depth and personality.

Not dull

Where does The Murder Book rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The more books in the Alex Delaware series I listen too, the more I grow to like them. This one has a complex plot with many roots in the past, Alex swims in and out of the story, Milo gets a lot of attention this time, not only professional but also his past and background are more realised as is his private life. But it all makes sense and the storyline kept me interested. Robin Castagna remains an annoying character, thank heavens most of this book she is only on the phone since Alex and she are going through a difficult patch (that is: more difficult than usual). Johan Rubinstein is the perfect reader for this series: his voice has gravity and irony, he finds the right tone for every character and is very constant in his characterisations. He masters all kind of etnic accents without getting into charicature. I really enjoyed this one.

I'm hooked 👍👍👍

I won't be satisfied until I have them all. Love the storyline.
Now, I have to go back to the beginning to get all the details.from book 1, and so on. The Murder Book has twists and turns of excitement, friendships and bonds being built up and torn down, unexpected characters doing unexpected things with real life family situations going on all the while which brings the book "To Life".Yes I need to know more. 🌞

I love this series

Sometimes it was hard to know whether Alex or milo were talking. I enjoy the east banter between the two friends. The storyline was interesting but the end fell a little flat for me.

The Murder Book - One Word: Boring

I'm amazed other listeners were so generous, giving this book 3 stars. I have to stretch to give it two. It's confusing, repeatitive, violent and poorly written. There's no motivation for a relationship with the deceased so from the beginning, the listener's care factor is slight. Several stories woven in are so poorly related that the listener doesn't care how it turns out. Not one bit impresssive since there are such good books out there.

Language disapointed me

The story line was Ok, but the gratuitous use of foul language was a turn off for me. I couldn't stand to have it blasted throughout my house, which is how I like to listen to my books.

Not For Me

This one started off interesting but soon became tied up in a knot of detail that had no relation to the story. If you like a lot a gruesome detail and not very elegant sexual situations, you might like it.
