Publisher's summary

The number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Deceivers delivers a gripping John Wells thriller that takes listeners into the darkest shadows of a silent war....

One morning, a former CIA agent is shot to death in the street. That night, an army vet is gunned down in his doorway. The next day, John Wells gets a phone call. Come to Langley. Now.

The victims were part of an interrogation team that operated out of a secret base in Poland called the Midnight House, where they worked over the toughest jihadis, extracting information by any means necessary. Now Wells must find out who is killing them. Islamic terrorists are the likeliest suspects, and Wells is uniquely qualified to go undercover and find them. But the trail of blood leads him to a place he couldn’t have imagined: home.

Ho Hum

The Midnight house wasn't the best in the story in the saga of John Wells. The narration saved it for me. It was pretty easy to figure it out from almost the beginning. What is funny is that the story could be believable. I would not go as far as to say that it's a waste of a credit if you are a Well's fan but just don't get your exceptions to high.

Slow and not much excitement

Not a page turner. Well read but story shallow and little action in a 14 hour book.

Great Series

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

Great cadence and voice for these books.

Any additional comments?

I have read the whole series. Alex Berenson has kept me intrigued and drawing conclusions all the way through. I love the attention to emersion details: not just a street, not just people but the whole social interaction of the scene and participants.

FANTASTIC!!!

This is a better follow-up from the previous book in the series. It is very very good and engaging. I highly recommend this not only to listen to George Guidall but to follow the actions of John Wells. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Spy thriller

I’m beginning to wonder just how much of these novels is fiction and how much is fact. I just hope that our country has not lowered itself to these levels
What happened to our being the bastion of righteousness and moral goodness in a world of pain and darkness
These novels are enjoyable and structured to make you think and feel the pain of the third world countries

Love the John Wells stories.

I really enjoy this series....like a CIA Jack Reacher. It is also very informative about issues in the war against terror.

Another hit by Alex Berenson

I have been reading Alex since his first book came out and he never fails to deliver a combination of intense action with believable characters. I look forward to the continuation of the series.

Great Entertainment

Disclosure: This is not my genre. That said, I have enjoyed this series. The stories are well crafted. Everything seems to fit without being transparent. The characters are consistently drawn story to story. Throughout there is very little call for suspension of disbelief despite inherent unreality. George Guidall’s narration adds to the quality of the series. I’ve given each 4 stars but would give the series 5. In short, these stories are great entertainment for very little effort on the part of the listener.

Well written and enjoyable

Alex Berenson has a very nice, enjoyable style. Good dialogue, his action generally moves at just the right pace. The Midnight House doesn't have the world's greatest plot, but I read it quickly enjoying it the entire time.
