Publisher's Summary

She only stepped outside for a minute… But a minute was all it took to turn Jean Kingsley’s world upside down - a minute she’d regret for the rest of her life. Stepping into her worst nightmare…Because when she returned, she found an open bedroom window and her three-year-old son, Nathan, gone. The boy would never be seen again. A nightmare that only got worse. A tip eventually leads detectives to their killer, a repeat sex offender, and inside his apartment, a gruesome discovery. A slam-dunk trial sends him off to death row, then several years later, to the electric chair. Case closed. Justice served…or was it?

Now, more than 30 years later, Patrick Bannister unwittingly stumbles across evidence among his dead mother’s belongings. It paints her as the killer and her brother, a wealthy and powerful senator, as the one pulling the strings. What really happened to Nathan Kingsley? There’s a hole in the case a mile wide, and Patrick is determined to close it. But what he doesn’t know is that the closer he moves toward the truth, the more he’s putting his life on the line, that he’s become the hunted.

    "Keeps your interest"

I found this to be a very good suspense/thriller. Patrick, now a reporter was an abused child, that we become acquainted with throughout the book, since he found evidence of a long ago missing child in his dead mother's belongings. The whole book is trying to solve the mystery of why his mother would be in possession of the medallion worn by the missing child. Patrick puts himself in deeper and deeper danger as he unravels the puzzle.Clues unfold and Patrick's tormented upbringing comes to light, as a killer pursues him.

    "Great escape"

I have been enjoying Mini Mystery stories comma I really enjoyed this one. I also enjoyed very much that sex was not in this novel. I could listen to it with the whole family.

    "Great book - horrible narration"

It's a shame I couldn't simply read this book, but my vision does not permit that great joy.
This is the most horribly read, or narrated, book I have ever listened to.
It should be pulled from existence and rerecorded by someone who can simply read aloud a good book.

"The Lion, The Lamb, The Hunted"

I just finished listening to this fantastic book by Andrew E. Kaufman and performed/read by Luke Daniels. I gave it five stars and would give it 10 if possible. The storyline was unique, intense and kept me glued to it until I was finished. It was so well conceived, tightly written, you felt like you were in the story yourself. The characters were so identifiable that it felt as though I was riding along with Patrick. There are places where you laugh, places where you cried with empathy and action aplenty so that you never had a moment the story didn't have you hooked, sometimes to the point that I would realize I was holding my breath, anxious to rush forward to know what was going to happen next. You begin to feel invested in the characters and your emotions rode up and down, around and around. It kept you guessing until the end and when the plot came together at the end, you felt relief for the characters but you didn't want to let go. I just couldn't get enough. I look forward to the next book by Mr. Kaufman that I can dig into! And the narrator, Luke Daniels, really brought the book to life for me. He was flawless in his delivery of different characters. But his delivery of Patrick was so very authentic, I felt as though Patrick Bannister was telling his own story with a voice that was rich, emotion-filled, personable. Thank you to both the author and the reader for making this one of the best books I've read or listened to in a very long time. I highly recommend this book, whether you chose to read it or listen while you do other things. Or you can do like me and switch between the two depending, on your mood or needs at that moment.

I don't usually rush out for all the "best sellers", but give each intriguing book/author a look. I have found many diamonds in the rough.

    "Suspense"

I gave this book 5 stars because of the characters. Each was believable and fit together perfectly, thus making it more interesting and suspenseful. The story was intriguing even though I knew in some parts what was going on before the main character. I think that this may be part of Andrew E. Kaufman's writing style, which in that case I liked it. The mystery was good and fast moving, however, just a warning, there is child abuse. Some of the action at the ending was a little far fetched, but was made up for by the outcome of the mystery. I'm so glad that there is another book, "Darkness and Shadows", because one string was not cleared up..."they will never find the body"....whose body? A fun romp that vasillated between a light saga and a very serious dark drama. Luke Daniels narrative was excellent, as always.

"The Lion, The Lamb, The Hunted"
Where does The Lion, The Lamb, The Hunted rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not in the top ten, only because I made the "HUGE" mistake of listening to his book "TWISTED" before this one and was totally spoiled. The narrator however, was WONDERFUL!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lion, The Lamb, The Hunted?

There were a few, I'll say them without spoilers:*Cop Car*Letter*Dog

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

    His impersonation "Bill Williams"

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

For me, it was a book that I listened to in a couple of days, because after "TWISTED," well let's just say that's just going to be a book that's hard to beat for a long time. Written by the same author.

    Any additional comments?

Yes, I usually make it a habit to read author's books pretty much in order.I made the HUGE mistake of not doing so with this one. I am on to his next book, but will never do that again! Love his style!

    "LOVE this book!"

Everything about this book has it all: great story, suspense, outstanding narater, clever and at times hilarious dialog. I could not stop listening !
My only complaint is the sudden abrupt ending. It is almost like the writer suddenly realized he was running out of paper in the middle of the story!
    Excellent book.

"No chills or thrills for me."
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I couldnt get involved in the story line or characters. I think someone who enjoys a slower paced story with less chills and wordy chapters would enjoy this book.

    "Awful Narration"

This narrator performed am Orson Wells theatrical number. It's a crime story. It was so ridiculous. Took a lot away from the story, which was decent.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. The narration was really bad. Does anyone outside cartoons really speak like that ?

Would you be willing to try another book from Andrew E. Kaufman? Why or why not?

    Yes, with a different narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Ridiculous characterization..... how they managed to record this without background laughter from the production team I will never know

If this book were a film would you go see it?

    Possibly.
