Publisher's summary

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

Action filled CIA novel with the best narrator

Where does The Last Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is right up there since my preference for audio books is action packed clandestine adventures.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mitch Rapp. He is the main character in all of Flynn's books. He is the ultimate CIA operative going after the bad guys. NO one gets by him and he seems to be able to figure anything out.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a voice that is unmistakable and he is able to manipulate his voice to sound like all of the characters in the book. The experience is like you are watching a movie since he makes you feel like you are there.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO its a very long book and you need a break although its a great book for long drives. It made the trip I listened to it on much shorter and more pleasant. That can't be said for all narrators.

Any additional comments?

Audio books are addicting. Especially when radio stations are horrible and you don't have access to internet music in your car. They are also great for people who don't have time to sit down and read because you can be doing other things while you are listening to a book.

Tough Guy with a heart

Good story. Nice to know the tough guy has a soft side, can get injured and still be Ranger Walker of the CIA.

Another great Mitch Rapp saga

I have read all the Mitch Rapp books and this one did not disappoint. Another great story from Vince Flynn and another great performance by George Guidall. If you like action, trauma and intrigue you will love this book. I highly recommend the whole series.

Amazing story

Well researched and superbly detailed... very exciting. Mitch Rapp is a hero with true skill, not just as an assassin but as a real patriot.

a revisit to a familiar place.

Good story line, gripping at times. characters often seemed to blend together as audible books can sometimes do. however, in that world of war and governmental espionage, don't all characters start to become fuzzy?

The Last Installation from My Favorite Author

What did you like best about this story?

This is classic Flynn. It has everything. And Rapp is at his best. Although it is not as good as some of his other works. Last Man is still a great book. I have listened to all of the Rapp novels multiple time and can't get enough of them. Mitch Rapp is the man that we hope hope is really out there.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did.
