George Markham has a nasty little hobby, one that erupts into an orgy of viscous sexual depravity. Patrick Kelly is a hard man. His one soft spot is his daughter, and when she falls victim to the Grantley Ripper, Kelly wants revenge. The DI in charge of the case is Kate Burrows. She feels for Kelly but her growing involvement with a known villain is putting her career at risk... As the forces of law and order and London's underworld converge in a huge manhunt, Kate fears she'll lose everything she's ever cared about... to the ladykiller.

Love a great book that stays with you long after you've finished it.
Wow! Interesting read. Enjoyable long listen that took me down surprising roads, some I am still travelling down in contemplation. Not much about the investegation, instead you are "in the head" of the criminal and detective and what drives of them.
"Loved this book"
Yes. I really liked this book. The story kept me wanting to know just what was going to happen next.
I didn't really have a favourite, I enjoyed it all.
Yes definitely. Annie is a great story teller & brings it to life.
It didn't make me cry, it did however have me looking behind me every five minutes whilst walking my dog haha..... no, really!!
No, there is more sub plots than plot, and the side stories swamp the main story
I would have liked to explore the murderer a bit more, and I was definitely uninterested in the detectives love life
The opening scene was quite dark
Wouldn't be interested in any film or programme myself
We have a psychopathetic murderer on the loose, terrorising a small town, yet the book is all about the detectives relationship with a East End gangster and their sexual exploits
"Not for the easily offended"
Quite probably as I feel I might have missed some of the finer details - that said it is a story that bears a second read anyway.
An excellent narator, varied charactors each with their own little quirks - I always feel this adds much to the telling
No, this is a book to be enjoyed when you can relax and take it on board.
Not for anyone offended by bad language - that said it is in context.
"BRILLIANT. MARTINA AT HER BEST AND READ WONDERFULLY BY ANNIE"
I couldn't stop reading this book it was excellant. I have been straight on site and ordered the sequel.
I love martinis books but some can be a bit samey. This was different. The storyline was just so good.
Have read the book and enjoyed it on audio. A few of the accents were a bit off but well worth listening to
I found this story initially fairly good but did not like the narrator....then the story got tedious and I stopped listening about a dozen chapters in. Not recommended
Most interesting was the characters initially. Least interesting was the way I lost interest in the characters - in particular the Police style of working seemed poor compared to other authors desciptions
Nasal narrator did not appeal to me
I know Martina Cole is a best selling author. It is probable that I was simply spoilt by my favourite author - in hardback and audiobooks - Peter James is much superior
"used to like this author"
I found this book really boring and the narration was like something out of "Eastenders" so many London cliche phrases stuffed into one book..."Leeeeve it aaaaaaout" "I aint done nuthin to deserve this daaaarlin".(my words) The characters were unbelievable and the story was slow and dull. I fast forwarded some of it to get to the end sooner. I was really surprised that this top selling author wrote such a poor story. Lots of unneccesary padding and overall it was more like someone's first attempt at a book. I wouldn't recommend when there are so many good crime thrillers out there.
loved this book! full of interesting people, great plot. twists and turns and a little romance!
I listened to it with a morbid curiosity, couldnt wait for it to finish . First and last Linda La Plante book
"The lady kill"
good story ending of the killer was a bit weak but good never the same .
