Publisher's summary

Saturday, 0911 hours — A blast rocks a London hospital and thousands are dead or injured.

1009 hours — Joe Ledger arrives on scene to investigate. The horror is unlike anything he has ever seen.

Compelled by grief and rage, Ledger rejoins the Department of Military Sciences, and within hours he's attacked by a hit team of assassins and sent on a suicide mission into a viral hot zone during an Ebola outbreak.

Soon Ledger and the DMS begin tearing down the veils of deception to uncover a vast and powerful secret society using weaponized versions of the Ten Plagues of Egypt to destabilize world economies and profit from the resulting chaos. Millions will die unless Ledger meets this powerful new enemy on its own terms as he fights terror with terror.

Take another thrill ride with Joe Ledger.

Another great thriller

After having finished the third book in the Joe Ledger series, I'm shocked at how many people "couldn't finish it" due to their own politics. I'm assuming these are the same people who did not want to be "lectured about eugenics"...wowza.

I enjoyed the latest save the world venture of the DMS and am amazed at how quickly a ninety minute commute feels like nothing thanks to the combined storytelling powers of Jonathan Maberry and Ray Porter. I vowed to never buy outside my credit allowance, however I am thrilled this was my first "cash" purchase. Worth every penny.

Well written and always captivating

This feature from Jonathan Maberry was a bit less satisfying than the first two but still a good read. The whole 7 Kings organization was a bit harder to believe than previous evil organizations from the author. The internal struggles from members of the organization felt rushed but I could see it being boring if he had taken the time to fully lay it out so I guess rushed was better. I'm not sure if it was just me but this story was less satisfying and didn't have enough resolution for the time invested in it.

Another solid ledger outing!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story which despite some cliches managed to avoid the pitfall of the last book in this series. I felt that Roy Porter continued to do a great job portraying ledger's voice as well as his attitude. Porter also did well presenting the few accents that were required from some of the supporting characters as the story went on.
The premise of the story saw the return of an old character and and intertwined well with the previous two stories. I was concerned about the introduction of a new female character and was pleased that this element of the story took some interesting twists of it own and did not end up in the bedroom of the hero.
I felt that the religious theme of this book also added an extra dimension to the typical action thriller premise and gave this book additional intrigue that, when combined with the secret society idea may not be the most original but was developed well so as to leave plenty of room for expansion in later books.
Overall this was a solid action thriller that kept me wanting more and gave further insight into the world of the DMS.
