THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER

“The truth about Reacher gets better and better. . . . This series [is] utterly addictive.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. The car contained one million dollars in ransom money because Edward Lane, the man who paid it, would do anything to get his family back.

Lane runs a highly illegal soldiers-for-hire operation. He will use any tool to find his beautiful wife and child. And Jack Reacher is the best manhunter in the world.

On the trail of vicious kidnappers, Reacher learns the chilling secrets of his employer’s past . . . and of a horrific drama in the heart of a nasty little war. He knows that Edward Lane is hiding something. Something dirty. Something big. But Reacher also knows this: He’s already in way too deep to stop now. And if he has to do it the hard way, he will.

Critic reviews

“A Reacher novel is the closest thing to guaranteed joy short of a honeymoon.”Rocky Mountain News

“Plenty of suspense writers play the tough-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold card, but Child is indelibly skillful, quickly sketching intriguing characters as he drops bombshell after bombshell. With its taciturn but engaging hero and almost unbearably prolonged tension, The Hard Way makes reading easy indeed.”The Miami Herald

“In The Hard Way, Reacher is better than ever.”Contra Costa Times

Dick Hill is a legend.

If I was to ever have anyone narrate my life I would want it to be him. Anytime I listen to a Reacher novel and it’s not him, it’s not the same.

A slow, then wild, Jack Reacher ride

Most of this Jack Reacher story is a genuine Manhattan mystery, with Reacher as detective. The action eventually moves to England, and is full of action. There is a tedious description of torture in the middle, but, apart from that, this is another first rate Reacher novel. Dick Hill, as usual, is a superlative reader.

Dick Hill is so bad

I loved Reacher books, until I tried them on audible. Reacher is not a pompous prick when my inner narrator sounds out his lines, but he sure is in Dick's voice. He makes him flat out unlikable. He manages the same for virtually every character. Almost nobody dramatically pauses in every sentence in real life and yet every single character Dick reads seems to have the habit. He reads every single sentence like it's earth shattering information of high intrigue, even if it's just describing a meal order.

Typical Jack Reacher

A great listen. Typical Jack Reacher antics along with Duck Hill’s narration make for a fun immersive experience.

Reacher to the rescue

Once again, Jack Reacher is in the right place at the right time to save the good people from the degenerates. This book finds our hero traveling to the UK and commenting on bad teeth, who knew?

One of the best Jack Reacher

Excitement starts at the beginning - sooner than normal. And it goes on to the end.
