Publisher's summary

Now a Netflix film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas

The first Gray Man novel from number one New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney.

To those who lurk in the shadows, he’s known as the Gray Man. He is a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible and then fading away. And he always hits his target. Always.

But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. Forces like money. And power. And there are men who hold these as the only currency worth fighting for. In their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness.

But Court Gentry is going to prove that, for him, there’s no gray area between killing for a living and killing to stay alive....

Get ready for white-knuckled listening. Greaney's debut novel introduces the enigmatic and elusive Court Gentry, a former CIA operative and a legendary hired gun. With a terrifying ability to vaporize targets and a strict moral code, he stalks the gray margins of the world, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, then fading away. When his government and former employers turn on him, there is no safehouse to run to, no way to lie low. In a constant state of escape and pursuit, Gentry tears through the Middle East and Europe in a riveting life-or-death race against time.

Critic reviews

"Through the carnage, Gentry remains an intriguing protagonist with his own moral code. Comparisons will be made to Jason Bourne, but the Gray Man is his own character. The ending screams for a sequel, but it will be difficult to maintain the intensity level of this impressive debut." (Booklist)

"Hard, fast, and unflinching – exactly what a thriller should be." (Lee Child)
"Bourne for the new millennium." (James Rollins)

What we know for sure—each title that made it to this collection is elevated and made special in some way by audio, whether by a layered performance from a single narrator, a brilliantly cohesive full cast, original music, or immersive sound effects. A Bullet Train Ride From Start to Finish

What did you love best about The Gray Man?

What is not to love? The story kept my interest and involved. Love The Gray Man character.

What other book might you compare The Gray Man to and why?

Anything by David Baldacci.

Have you listened to any of Jay Snyder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have. He is one of my favorites along with Dick Hill, Scott Brick, and Ron McClarty.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I found myself sitting in my car to hear more. I did not listen to music at the gym; I listen to The Gray Man, and it pumped me up.

Any additional comments?

I can not wait until the next book. Mark Greaney, you have a new and lifelong new fan.

If you like Clancy & Thor ...

You'll love this. Great real world action, with a character you can get behind, and some clever and entertaining dialogue. I'm a fan ... excited to have three more books in the series.

Performance is terrific as well.

Gripping

Keeps interest peaked. Good story. Narration is also great. A bit over-descriptive of setting the scene at times, but the rest of the story makes up for it.

3 hours to go

I really liked the story and the performance until with 3 hours and 19 minutes to go it STOPPED. And refused to start again. I’ll never know how it ends. Kind of ruins the thing.

Great work!

I'll be continuing arguing with Grey Man after this!
IT is irritating though that throughout- the VO quality and level changes in frequently as if it was recorded at different times by diff VO readers

Exciting, suspenseful, and yet unbelievable

I wanted to love this book. Based on the reviews it seemed to be right up my alley for suspense. I do have to say the suspense is there, and that the narrator does a good job with different voices. However, after the first encounter, and tha damage inflicted, everything that follows is unbelievable. It actually borders on the ridiculous, and therefore falls into the realm of comic book hero status. I did hit 3 stars because of suspense aspect of it and the solid narration. I don't think I will join the gray man on further adventures though.

Not bad

Pretty good story, no real surprises though. The story moves along a mostly predictable path. I’ll probably listen to the second book and hope there is some character development.

Full of action

The narrator was great with this book! The voices he used were clear and distinctive to the characters. The action was nonstop but not too much! The story line was also easy to follow. This is NOT a book to listen to when you want to fall asleep. Believe me it’s an attention getter!!!!
