Publisher's summary

Now a Netflix film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas

The first Gray Man novel from number one New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney.

To those who lurk in the shadows, he’s known as the Gray Man. He is a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible and then fading away. And he always hits his target. Always.

But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. Forces like money. And power. And there are men who hold these as the only currency worth fighting for. In their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness.

But Court Gentry is going to prove that, for him, there’s no gray area between killing for a living and killing to stay alive....

Get ready for white-knuckled listening. Greaney's debut novel introduces the enigmatic and elusive Court Gentry, a former CIA operative and a legendary hired gun. With a terrifying ability to vaporize targets and a strict moral code, he stalks the gray margins of the world, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, then fading away. When his government and former employers turn on him, there is no safehouse to run to, no way to lie low. In a constant state of escape and pursuit, Gentry tears through the Middle East and Europe in a riveting life-or-death race against time.

Critic reviews

"Through the carnage, Gentry remains an intriguing protagonist with his own moral code. Comparisons will be made to Jason Bourne, but the Gray Man is his own character. The ending screams for a sequel, but it will be difficult to maintain the intensity level of this impressive debut." (Booklist)

"Hard, fast, and unflinching – exactly what a thriller should be." (Lee Child)
"Bourne for the new millennium." (James Rollins)

More Than Human Is The Gray Man!

Highly entertaining with lots of action. What is this Gray Man who defies assault, knives, bullets, major injury and near death? And through it all he has a plan to right the wrongs of those counting on him, while hunted by every faction trying to kill him.

Jay Snyder does a great job of interpreting the action and seems to get himself involved as if he were actually taking part.

Another superior book by Mark Greaney.

Don't Worry Ma It's Only a Flesh Wound

Over the top thriller cliches but a story that was fun to read. The Gray Man was beaten, stabbed, shot, etc. but he kept on ticking. If you like assassin thrillers in the style of the Vince Flynn genre and can get past the writing that sometimes feels like high camp, you will enjoy this as much as I did.

Good story & Well done performance!

Overall 4 out of 5 stars: a little over the top regarding the amount of people the "Gray Man" can kill, and the volume of wounds he can sustain, yet still go on ( seems a little fictional). But exciting, suspenseful & enjoyable!

Mark Greaney "stole" my 6 credits after this one:)

I'm a fan of Lee Child, David Baldacci, and John Sandford. Audible had recommended this book and although after reading the synopsis I wasn't convinced I decided to give it a try.
Now around 2 weeks later I just finished Book 5 and I'm getting Book 6. Those books are super addictive.
Some actions are so far fetched that you just can't stop listening because you wonder how the author will get the protagonist safe and it seems it works to keep me engaged :)

Very good read. Worth it!

Seemed like nonstop action! No over bearing boring detail descriptions of locations, clothes and personalities, just hardcore perseverance to get the bad guys.
