Publisher's summary

Audie Awards Winner, 2010

The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy.

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

Critic reviews

“Larsson’s vivid characters, the depth of detail across three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of the genre.” (The Economist)

“The literary equivalent of a caffeine rush. . . . Larsson was one of those rare writers who could keep you up until 3 a.m. and then make you want to rush home the next night to do it again.” (Newsweek)

“Salander is someone you will never forget. . . . Anyone who enjoys grounding their imaginations in hundreds . . . of exciting pages about the way we live now ought to take advantage of this trilogy.” (Chicago Tribune)

It has graphic content but a good read.

Enjoyed it. Bought the next two because I like it so much. Third book the best.

Stieg Larrson

I only listen to audiobooks because of my eye sight! I find his books difficult to turn off and get doing chores like writing cards to my grandchildren, nieces and nephews. I introduced them to our youngest son! I had to tell him there were only three of them!!!
His characters certainly have different live styles than I have yet I still like watching them evolve! So thank you Stieg Larrson where ever you are!!!

Loved all 3!!

It breaks my heart that Mr. Larrson passed away because he could tell masterful stories with such unique character descriptions and vivid scenes. There are so many twists and turns that I don’t try to figure them out ahead of time, I just let his prose real me in and let events play out as I’m sure he intended. Although keeping the characters’ names straight in my mind was a bit challenging it didn’t take away from the book at all. I’ll be interested in reading other Salander books but I can’t imagine they’d live up to Mr. Larrson’s lofty achievements.

My favorite audiobook!

Stieg Larsson is one of the best authors to ever do it. The narrator's performance brings the characters to life. I'm so sad to reach the end of this amazing trilogy!

Amazing Finale

If you could sum up The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest in three words, what would they be?

A complex and intelligent thriller!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest?

The moment when the judge finally begins to understand the extent to which Lisander has been victimized in order to protect the secret of Zalchenko.

What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?

How he did the female voices, a kind of soft "voice in drag" that made me smile. It's not actually good I don't think, but it's funny.

Any additional comments?

Such a kick ass series! I read the first two on paper and only listened to the third one. This was my very first audio book. I listened to it almost all at one go and I think I retain more when I READ a book, but I did enjoy the experience and I do intend to continue to listen to books in the future.

Memorable performance and a good story

This book is the last of the Millennium trilogy. The story is complete and the performance is absolutely flawless.
