Publisher's summary

Ex-Baltimore cop turned special-ops shooter Joe Ledger is back in action.

In The Dragon Factory, Ledger and his team from the Department of Military Sciences square off against two separate groups of corrupt scientists. The beautiful but twisted Jakoby Twins are creating transgenic monsters and genetically enhanced mercenaries for sale to the highest bidder. Their father, who takes evil to an entirely new level, is using cutting-edge science to complete the Nazi master-race program.

Joe must elude the NSA who are gunning for him, fight his way past rogue Spetsnaz teams, and stop these madmen before the Extinction Clock runs out. And when the bloodbath claims one of his own, Joe Ledger declares total war on those people who would burn down the world in order to reshape it in their own dark image.

Take another thrill ride with Joe Ledger.

Critic reviews

“In Stoker-winner Maberry’s wild second Joe Ledger novel, Joe and his comrades from the Department of Military Science take on enough villains and their world-threatening plots to fill half a dozen ordinary thrillers.” ( Publishers Weekly)

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Totally addicted!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Read the first book. This one continues the thrill and action. It is so worth the listen and the credit! Joe Ledger is one of the greatest characters I have come across in a long time.

Love Jonathan's far out stories. Riveting. Ray Por

Jonathan Maberry is exciting as any high voltage Thriller today but he has a soul and the characters are great. It's all totally out there but great great stories usually based on a bit of fact. And Ray Porter, the narrator, is Jonathan Maberry in another body. great stuff better than any action movie

Need More Ledger!

If you could sum up The Dragon Factory in three words, what would they be?

I have been rationing these Joe Ledger books because, with as many books as I listen to in a year, there are only so many sure things. Maberry's Joe Ledger series is one of my #1 finds of this year. This is a thrill ride with a lot of dark turns and fast drops that will make you sit in your car - in the garage, long after you get home just to keep listening. Great characters that you care about and evil villains that you love to see "get their due." If you like Harry Dresden or Dirk Pitt, you'll love Ledger.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ray Porter is the best - gets every joke and every emotion. There was a different reader who they tried with a few of these books - avoid him and get Porter's read. If you liked Porter's narration of the books "14" by Cline, and "Dawn Patrol" by Winslow, then you know that there's none better.

Great book. Better narrator

I've never commented on a narrator before but this guy is fantastic. 6/5 stars! exceptional! the book was very good but my least favorite in the Joe Ledger series (of the 3 I've listened to).

Best of Ledger

I have read and listened to several of the Joe Ledger tales and this is by far my favorite! I hope to keep up with the series finding something equally as capturing.

Joe Ledger Rocks!

This is my second book of the Joe Ledger series and I will definitely be reading the others. The characters are wonderful and Ray Porter is wonderful. Sometimes you just need a good story, it doesn’t need to be real or plausible. That’s the best thing about fiction—It’s FICTION!!

I will be looking at some of the other books written by Mr. Mayberry!
