Publisher's summary

It was the deal of the decade, if not the century. A small, insignificant company on the edge of bankruptcy had discovered an alchemist's dream; a miraculous polymer, that when coated on any vehicle, was the equivalent of 30 inches of steel. With bloody conflicts surging in Iraq and Afghanistan, the polymer promises to save thousands of lives and change the course of both wars.

Jack Wiley, a successful Wall Street banker, believes he has a found a dream come true when he mysteriously learns of this miraculous polymer. His plan: enlist the help of the Capitol Group, one of the country's largest and most powerful corporations in a quick, bloodless takeover of the small company that developed the polymer. It seems like a partnership made in heaven...until the Pentagon's investigative service begins nosing around, and the deal turns into a nightmare.

Now, Jack's back is up against the wall and he and the Capitol Group find themselves embroiled in the greatest scandal the government and corporate America have ever seen.

Haig at the peak of his game!

What an amazing book! I have read a few other books by Brian Haig, and I have loved them all. He is a great author, and this book one of his best. The best part of this novel is the amazing characters that the author creates. They are characters that I was immediately connected to, and held my attention throughout the book. The story itself is nothing short of brilliant. The way the author weaves us through the plot, and a complicated plot at that, is really fun and more than interesting. Such a great story! Of course, the hero's are nearly perfect, and the bad guys are 100% bad, but that is kind of par for the course in novels like this.

Another thing I really liked about this book is that the author brought on new characters throughout the book. Some of the main characters were not even introduced until the story was well over 50% played out. I loved that, and I was just as enthralled with those characters as those whom were introduced in the beginning.

Scott Brick has become one of my favorite authors. When I first heard a few of his reading, I was not sure that I would ever enjoy him. But, as I got to hear more of his work and understand his style, I really love it.

A page turner

Picked this title up because Scott Brick is among the best narrators ever, and I enjoy listening to him. The author does not disappoint either. I will be tuning in for more from both of them. Thank you for the performance and thank you the story.

A fun story well executed

If, like me, you are sick of the machinations and waste that go on in Washington, this book is for you. Saying too much will spoil it. It all comes together at the end in a completely satisfying way. Scott Brick’s narration is first rate.

Wow!

Any additional comments?

I have to admit, the first part of this book was a little slow moving and I was having trouble seeing what some things had to do with some others....but it got moving real fast! In the end, this is one of the better books to which I have listened. I have read most of the other Brian Haig novels and this one ranks right at the top! Great story!

Good intrigue

The story was very compelling. I have no doubt there are company's in the world that operate in such an underhanded and despicable manner. I think the story was a little too long. After awhile I just wished it would conclude so I could find out if I was right about the ending. I think this would have worked better as a shorter story though keeping the plot line straight for this length of story was nothing short of a Herculean effort.

My first Brian Haig book..

but it will not be the last! The Capital Game is a wonderful story well told. Scott Brick is without peer as a narrator. I listen to more than 100 Audible books a year and am a fan of mystery/thriller books. I'm up to date on books by Vince Flynn, Lee Child, Brad Thor, Ben Coes, Michael Connelly, Nelson DeMille, Lisa Gardner, Karin Slaughter, David Baldacci, Alex Berenson, Bob Mayer, Brett Battles, Catherine Coulter, C. J. Box, Daniel Silva, Jeffrey Archer, Jo Nesbo, John Sanford, Ken Follett, Tom Clancy, Michael Korota, Olen Steinhauer, and Particia Cornwell, so was looking for a new author. Haig's joint project with Vince Flynn pointed the way to him.

Spellbinding! Highly Recommended!

Brian Haig takes you in the back rooms of Washington’s political dealings so credibly that you KNOW it is happening. And the ending was a true surprise. Scott Brick was a masterful narrator, allowing the reader to be immersed in the story, so consistent were the various characters’ voices. This book has re-motivated me to seek congressional term limits, and heavier oversight of government contracts and PACs.

Outstanding

Was difficult to stop playing from beginning to the end. Encourage other Audible customers to acquire the right to listen to a well developed story dramatized by a very professional reader
