Publisher's summary

It was the deal of the decade, if not the century. A small, insignificant company on the edge of bankruptcy had discovered an alchemist's dream; a miraculous polymer, that when coated on any vehicle, was the equivalent of 30 inches of steel. With bloody conflicts surging in Iraq and Afghanistan, the polymer promises to save thousands of lives and change the course of both wars.

Jack Wiley, a successful Wall Street banker, believes he has a found a dream come true when he mysteriously learns of this miraculous polymer. His plan: enlist the help of the Capitol Group, one of the country's largest and most powerful corporations in a quick, bloodless takeover of the small company that developed the polymer. It seems like a partnership made in heaven...until the Pentagon's investigative service begins nosing around, and the deal turns into a nightmare.

Now, Jack's back is up against the wall and he and the Capitol Group find themselves embroiled in the greatest scandal the government and corporate America have ever seen.

Long way to go for no too great a payoff

Would you listen to The Capitol Game again? Why?

The build up to the reveal is really well done and the realistic character flaws only add to the suspense. I would listen to it again only to hear hints I may have missed.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All the main characters were well liked for their individual qualities. Even the villains had a curious familiarity.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

THAT is the question which can't be answered. Scott Brick brings life to each character! Amazing depth, insight and performance. By Mr.Brick's understated style, visualization of character reactions and interactions are left to the listener and that adds to the enjoyment derived by the listener.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The discussion where the money that was accounted for in the firm's quest for acquiring the polymer, getting a no bid contract, moving it through the D.C. Machine. Amazing!

Any additional comments?

For such a well written novel the ending was a bit of a let down. I understand the reasons for the entire project, I just felt let down by the last bit. I also found the reunion curious, what was the reason for that part? I don't believe that any of those players were used later on.

A First Rate Story, Perfectly Presented

Seldom does a book keep me hanging on the edge of my chair until the very end, this one did. I have no doubt readers will be fascinated by the multiple layers, personalities, venues and professions Brian Haig weaves into this superb story. Great selection!

Two Hours Too Long

Good two for 1 credit sale book. This is one of my favorite authors!!! Do not miss the Sean Drummond series with Joe Barrett narrating. My fave Private Sector, howl out loud laughter. Mr Brick is a fabulous narrator and he brings this story home. Mr Haig must have witnessed way too many shenanigans on the hill!!! Hence this 15 hr read that his editor should have done a better job. He had a lot to get off his chest, but we had to hear each and everyone of the evil evil behavior of these greedy men. The corruption by greedy people is just plain criminal and heartbreaking, especially with cost overruns and delayed contracts that our military may suffer from. It is such a shame we do not get more of Mr. Haig writing. I own all of his novel from Audible. All are worth a listen and the Sean Drummond series is worth re listening twice.

Better then the best.

This book is full of more twists and turns! The intrigue and fun just keeps on going! And when you think you have it figured out - wait another chapter. You probably don’t.
And of course being read to you by Scott Brick couldn’t be better. This authors talents of keeping you on the edge and Scott’s voice bringing you farther and farther along the story is what makes a book from audible so much fun!

enjoyed by the end but a very long wind up

5 hours in I was wondering if I even cared to finish it though it did get more interesting in the second half. Excellent narration for this type of novel added to the appeal. No masterpiece but I don't regret listening to it.

A Book For the 21st Century!

What a compelling book. I always feel that when authors write books of this nature there is more truth than fiction. Excellent twists and turns and wonderful ending. I look forward to Mr. Haig's next book as I have read them all. Narrator Scott Brick is the best in my opinion, keep using him to tell your stories.
